We arrived at the door and were greeted by a young man washing the floor. He informed us that the restaurant would not be open for another 1/2 hour. We only had an hour to join our tour bus which was just around the corner. The manager came to greet us and asked if he could help us. We told him out predicament and he said he had an idea. He couldn't seat us in the dinning room where people would see us, but said follow me. We were escorted to a beautiful very private garden patio in the back of the restaurant where he sat us. He said I'll get a menu and go over each item with you and tell you how they are made. It was the best, most romantic dinners that we've ever shared. The best memory of our 14 day tour.
After 7 years living in Cascais we finally ate here. We've tried virtually all other restaurants in Cascais but not this one. The food, service and atmosphere were excellent. Starters were great including the best queijo fresco I've ever had. Super presunto and tasty olives too. Our santola recheada was one of the best we've had. I'd return just for that and the queijo fresco. My espetada de tamboril was cooked to perfection as was my wife's grilled lulas. Our friend's robalo ao sal was also reported as excellent and cooked perfectly. The wine recommendation, Quinta dos Aciprestes, from the Douro was spot on as well. The atmosphere is wood panelled traditional and the service was cheerful and friendly. Can't believe it took 7 years to visit! Will be returning frequently. Be sure to reserve in 2nd sala rather than in the front.
Invited as a guest and what a charming long established fish restraint this is. On arrival we were presented with olives, bread, cured ham, and ricotta cheese. The cheese on bread with salt and pepper was amazing. My host ordered and we had prawns in a chilli sauce and clams in a garlic butter to start. Both delicious. Main was a huge risotto pot with lobster chunks and prawns, too much for the 4 of us. The restaurant is just a few hundred yards back from the seafront on the road with the ferris wheel. Highly recommended if in Cascais and easily accessible from Lisbon, just 25 minutes in a cab.
