While visiting Cascais, I came to have lunch at the Vela Azul Restaurant, a small, family-run space where traditional Portuguese food, especially fish, is the house specialty. The starter came with Bread, Toast, Butter and a Fresh Cheese. The main course consisted of tasty Grouper Fillets accompanied by naughty Tomato Rice and perfectly well prepared, full of aroma and flavor. The rump fillets were 3 and thin as a sheet of paper, I was starving, the tomato rice was made with peeled canned tomatoes, it was very acidic, the desserts, the 3 we ordered, were sold out, according to what the waiter told us. They are closed on Sunday so when they run out they don't replace them, the fish fillets must have been the last! Not going back to a Saturday night. The napkin is made of cloth but if we get it dirty the waiter makes observations, if we want ice...
As a general rule, I have a good experience at this restaurant. The last time I was there, the guilloche possums only tasted like whiskey, I asked the waiter for a new dish and, in addition to refilling, he brought the same dish with the whiskey slightly more evaporated. I won't be back soon.
