I can't enjoy food because I haven't eaten it. But I have never found a space where the staff were so attentive and ready to resolve what we asked for as it was late and cold, they even offered to bring blankets so we wouldn't get cold.

This is my 4th review in the city of castelo branco. I happily gave the previous three 5 stars. Not this place. In September 2023 I bought a few bottles of wine here and paid with a maestro/Mastercard debit card in a payment device. The employee said that the payment had not been successful and asked if I wanted to pay with my debit card at another payment terminal. I did so and received a printed payment slip. A few hours later I saw in my bank account app that the same amount had been debited twice! I went back to this wine bar and showed my bank statement. Apologies were made and I was immediately refunded the double amount paid in cash. 6 months later in March 2024 I bought 1 bottle of wine. Exactly the same situation repeated itself. Payment 2 times in 2 different payment machines where the first machine said that it had not been successful and I received a pinned receipt at the 2nd payment machine. A few days later I discovered in the banking app that the amount had been debited twice again. I came back to this city a few weeks later, went to this bar and explained the situation and showed the payment overview in the banking app again. This time I received no apology and did not receive a cash refund for the double amount paid. They kept me waiting and asked if the owner could call or email me later. I said I didn't want to wait and wanted to come back again and that I wanted MY money back NOW. I said that they had had more than 6 months to resolve the situation with the payment terminal (which supposedly doesn't work but does steal your money). Instead of an apology, I was accused by an employee that my behavior was not correct! A complete reversal of affairs. Scandalous! And it is actually just theft from people from abroad who pay with a card other than the Portuguese multibanco. They think those tourists will never come back here again, so we use a trick to make them pay twice. So pay attention. Too bad because the wines are good and the food is quite ok.

A very pleasant experience in which the friendliness of the employees, the food and the good atmosphere made us feel at home. Around the table, having a pleasant chat, sipping and chopping delicacies.
Sad experience.The black lady serving laughed at us when we were tasting the wine, she couldn't explain the desserts even after asking her colleague and she brought us the food very out of date. The steak arrived after 5 minutes, the potatoes another 5 minutes, the salad and my boyfriend still had nothing. Furthermore, the starter ordered several times arrived after the main course - shameful.The restaurant had a good reputation but with service like that from this lady we didn't go back.
