Wow, what a surprise to find excellent food with very fast service for an excellent lunch when we only had an hour fifteen for a tour stop. Must try drunken peat dessert...awesome especially with a glass of port.
Vegetarian options: We ordered side dish of rapini, there are also other vegetable side dish options. Also had mushroom tapas which did have a shrimp or two on it. Soup was very good also and several salad options.

We were sitting at the terrace and asked for a a draft beer and were snobbishly turned away. The waiter told us that is not café but a restaurant, although there was nothing written or whatsoever indicating such. She also didn't even bother to offer us the option of a tapa. The waiter just wanted us to leave. This was our first impression of Castelo de Vide which absolutely clouded this and future visits.

A few years ago, we ate at the same place run by an older woman who made some tasty homemade dishes. It was difficult to match that experience, but the new owners of the establishment have more than achieved it. Exquisite food (unforgettable mushrooms stuffed with shrimp), exceptional service, cozy atmosphere and more than reasonable prices. Although it is far away, we hope to return soon to try more dishes from this place that has already captivated us twice.
