Small place but friendly inviroment, I didn't book but arrived early so I found a table. I ordered a vegetable soup wich was OK but i had better in Coimbra in the last couple of days. I went there to try the fried popular hung sardines and I like them. Then i ordered a duck orange soup which was no spectacular and honestly a bit disappointed and the reason why I put only 3 stars therefore below the average. Maybe I choose the wrong plate, don't know?‍♀️

This is the sort of place who makes life exciting. The food is fresh and cooked to perfection. These are simple dishes but beautifully executed. The portions are just right so no wastage which is important as well. The location is simple on a street but comfortable to enjoy this great place. The staff are friendly which add to the experience. Just go for it.

I visited with my Dad for dinner and went with some of our own choices and some of the manager Rafa. Every single plate was delicious, and was great to try small plates that we wouldn’t usually go for. It’s also excellent value for money. The interior feels really authentic and welcoming and if you’re lucky enough to get a chance to chat with Rafa you definitely should, he is a lovely man and he really enhanced our experience and I wish him all the best for the future. Next time we’re in Coimbra we will definitely be back!

A great little spot hidden in a quiet spot in the narrow streets of the old town. The food is excellent Portuguese traditional fare and the staff are lovely with great English. The Pica Pau and blood sausage were delicious, well balanced and fresh. The dining room is very cozy with old Roman arches and comfortable seating. Highly recommended.

Intimate artsy venue. Small menu with variety—cod & chickpeas plus sautéed vegetables was a hit with me. Friendly and helpful servers. Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Cat Stevens et al lending to the ambience.

When you look at the outside you worry. It's a bit down trodden. But the inside is nice, local, friendly. The food is the same. Exemplary. Local. Fresh. Tasty. Well priced. Stunning ambience. Great staff. Would return day after day if we had time. No tourists. Great road watching.

As soon as we entered Arcada Comes e Bebes in Coimbra, it was clear that this wasn’t your typical dining establishment. The quirky interior, complete with a wishing well, cheese grater light fixtures, and a chalkboard for patrons to express themselves, immediately caught our attention. The menu was a delightful fusion of traditional Portuguese dishes and culinary innovation. Rafael, the manager, graciously shared the story of Moncarvao—a comforting pastry filled with hunt meat and mozzarella. He revealed that the dish was a tribute to his mother’s home-cooked recipe, making the experience even more special. The array of appetizers was nothing short of spectacular. We indulged in little sardines ‘on a boat,’ fried to golden perfection, and breaded Brie cheese accompanied by jam. Our main courses, which included a tenderloin sandwich and a delectable bruschetta made with cod, garlic, and mozzarella, were equally impressive. Our meal was accentuated by red and white Sangrias that perfectly complemented the diverse flavors on the table. The service was the cherry on top. Ines, despite it being her first day on the job, was incredibly attentive, making us feel at ease. Pedro, equally professional, ensured that our dining experience was nothing short of amazing. Amazingly, all this luxury came at a value for money; for under 50 euros, we ate like royalty. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, Arcada Comes e Bebes should not be missed. From the exceptional food, courtesy of Rafael’s mom’s recipes, to the unique atmosphere and outstanding service from Ines and Pedro, this is a dining experience you won’t want to miss. A heartfelt thank you to Rafael, Ines, Pedro, and everyone at Arcada Comes e Bebes for a meal that we will long remember. If you find yourself in Coimbra, make sure to visit this restaurant—you can thank us later!

Thank you Luis for accommodating us! We had great meal with our kids. Loved the mushrooms with shrimp, the octopus salad and the scrambled eggs with sausage.

This was our first day in Coimbra, we ordered several tasty dishes and they recommended Sardines. It was so good that we forgot to make a photo. Later in our trip we looked for a similar dish but Arcada's was the best.

“A Must”. Beautifully located down a magic old Portuguese cobbled lane, Arcada Comes e Bebes was a magic experience. Serving high quality traditional meals prepared with love and respect for tradition, including lots of vegetable options; all reasonably priced. The service was excellent, friendly and warm. Highly recommend!

We happened upon this great little restaurant while strolling down from the University. We had a wonderful lunch sitting at one of their outside table. The salmon bruschetta was wonderful. And the sardines in a boat were not only very tasty but presented in such a fun way! Great prices - 16 euro for the food and 2 SuperBok. If it hadn't been our last day in Coimbra, we definitely would have returned for dinner.

Highly recommend- Very popular restaurant so make sure you book! Luckily we had reserved a table. The staff were friendly and constantly on the go. Food was very tasty with enough GF options. Food comes out when it’s ready so don’t be alarmed if one dish comes out and the other doesn’t quickly follow. It had a fun chilled vibe. Would definitely come back

Very conducive little Place away from the main Tourist area. Nice Staff, and excellent imaginative Tapas. Not too expensive. Highly recommended.
