Fijne ontdekking. Super typisch, niet toeristisch, maar heerlijke sfeer. Ik heb het ten zeerste geapprecieerd.

We ate very well and they are friendly. They have few dishes, but good ones. If they see that you eat with gusto, they bring you more without even asking.

Restaurant where almost all customers are local. The main dish is roast suckling pig, there is no menu and they serve trays of suckling pig as you eat and finish. The fries are very good. We paid €20 per person with coffee, pastries and liquor.

A hidden place, it can only be found through reviews and Google indications but… it is a must to go there. Excellent food, homemade typology, family atmosphere. No menu and no itemized bill but… we ate appetizers of homemade cheese and sausage, octopus with potatoes, grilled suckling pig, ice cream, house cinnamon liqueur, a liter and a half of wine and a liter and a half of water TOTAL 50 EUR. I have no words, the TOP!

We had the best meal with this at this very "local" eateryHere's a breakdown of how it went for us....so you know what to expect. Please take the time and effort to support them.We stopped in early and with very little English on their end and choppy Portuguese on our end we figured out:"The Pork would be ready at 8:00 P".We arrived promptly at 8P to an empty dining room and a table set for 2. Thankfully we had some card games in the car, turned on the Spotify and waited for the main event. There was no menu offered and we went along with what they brought us.First a bottle of Sparkling wine - Red and White were offered.Starters were local cheese, linguicia and morcela sausages with bread. Both sausages looked homemade and were smoky and delicious.About 8:45P - Two other larger groups rolled in - all Portuguese locals and were served their starters and drinks.About 9:00P - the Chef and Owner was busy clipping and cutting the Suckling Pig that was the star of the meal! The crispy skin was like candy and the meat was perfectly cooked. It was served with an olive relish on the side. The side dishes consisted of potatoes thinly sliced and fried. And a plate of fresh cut oranges.Other tables were offered more portions as they ran out,our serving for 2 was plenty.Around 9:45 we were offered a plate of ice cream, and a basket of homemade biscuits/cookies to go with our Cafe. They also brought a little pitcher of Cinnamon Liquor (Fire Water) that was very tasty! It was fun navigating our meal with this sweet family. At one point the lady in the dining room brought out a variation of the card game we were playing from the house and we had a good laugh.Total price was 50 USD for the 2 of us.We could not totally figure out a schedule of when they were open so we kept driving by and when we saw activity stopped, checked in and made reservation. We left full, happy and connected to a piece of history!Watch out for that 10P Cafe'.....it kept us up all night!boa refeição

Sincerely the best experience we had on Faial. We went there with no reservation didn't even know if the restaurant was open.We don't speak Portuguese at all, just French and English. The lady who welcomed us speaked only Portuguese. We felt at home instantly even if we couldn't understand each other. We didn't chose what we ate but boy oh boy?❤️.The lady brought us a plate of cheese (soft one but tasteful)Then we got a whole service bowl of vegetable soup (which was also great) we ate to plates each. Then the main dishes got there, some tuna with a beautiful sauce with bell pepper and garlic and a delicious beef stew that tasted like paradise (little hint of cinnamon yummy)We were already full full but then the desserts arrived. We had a caramel like ice cream (don't know exactly what was the taste reminded me a bit of whisky cream) and an awesome coconut cake.We ended the meal with two double espressos. We also had a bottle of white wine.We only paid 40€ for two and the meal was humongous and overall delicious. We loved the experience if you don't speak Portuguese and you're not afraid about our story don't hesitate a second. The most typical encounter ❤️ I even kissed the lady before to leave her.

End of vacation lunch, cozy space as always, perfectly decorated with antiques from Mr. Vitor.Super friendly service, we are practically at home, forget the niceties etc, in this place we are treated as if we were family. It is only open for prearranged events, lunches or dinners. Suckling pig is the specialty of the house, it was divine with its sauce, orange and fried potato slices. If you can and have the opportunity, take advantage and try it. I really recommend , call and try your luck .
