What a winner… but you wouldn’t know from the outside. Went on one of those cold cold January days and arrived just after noon (so a bit early for lunch). Entered into a cold, empty (no lights on) bar with a few tables. A too-good-to be true older woman (all in black; possibly widowed?) sitting at the front motioned for us to sit anywhere. Luckily an (older) couple came in and walked into the (lights off) back room. Motion lights turned on to reveal the real dining area. Inside there was a huge fireplace which had been started so our grilled lunch was eaten by fireside.The place is run by a wonderful couple plus the older woman from the front room who came into the dining room and sat ramrod stiff against the wall near the fireplace for most of the time we were there … except when she got up to wash dishes…The proprietor man was the grill master and circled the room throughout the the lunch chatting up every table (even ours). The proprietor woman was just as busy tending to plating and clearing and cashing out.By 13:00 the place had filled up. All grilled plates with French fries and salad or potatoes. There was a pot of stew of some kind that 2 tables got but it wasn’t on the menu and we couldn’t figure out what he said it was called in Portuguese. Copious amounts of jugged red wine were served at each table (for laborers, office guys, senior couples)… as well as bread and olives. Wonderful Orange tinged flan and cafe for desert.€11.00 each for us (total/ no wine).Basically not a knock it out of the park kind of place but it was one hell of a great meal and experience. Will go back to try that great looking beef steak.
