More than a meal, a gastronomic experience accompanied by good wine. Fantastic atmosphere and accompanying dishes with explanation of what you were going to eat. Take time to enjoy everything and savor the moment. We were lucky to hear live music towards the end and that was excellent!

Don't be fooled by the talk of “there is no menu” and Mr. Paulo's “friendliness”. This just means that they don't care about the food and drink prices, and in the end you will be in for a surprise. Note: Don't forget that not having a menu with prices is illegal. The owner invented values and we had to do our calculations and he gave us HALF of what he was asking for. It's not that we ate badly, but we ate very little for what we were charged. We left there hungry. In the end it just ended up being a bad experience. I don't recommend it.

Having a meal here is indeed an experience and not just to fix a hungry tummy. From Paulo, to the food (of course!), to the atmosphere and to the other diners (who are locals, great!), it is an amazing gastronomic experience.
Paulo is very gracious, surprising you with delectable traditional petiscos with information about each one of them. He strives to accommodate dietary requirements without sacrificing the authenticity and taste of his dishes.
Essa Taberna maybe a small place but it sure clean and is easy to find —just follow where the sound of men singing, even late into the night is.
The food, if I haven’t said it enough, is simple, a great melding of flavours and comes in perfect portions. It really showcases how amazing the alentejo cuisine is. The bacalhau com pimentos e laranja is simply outstanding. It seems like the menu for the day is based on what’s the freshest in the market.
Absolutely a must when in Cuba or Beja District.
