We came out with a bittersweet taste: the pen with crumbs and cilantro was spectacular; On the other hand, the gilthead cod seemed like a scam. It appears to be a traditional meal consisting mostly of straw potatoes, and some cod crumbs for 10 euros. For three euros more you have a plate of proper cod in the same establishment.
Another detail that we didn't like is that he gave us, without asking, a pâté, olives and bread, which he quickly charged to our account with a nice smile.

It's the third time I've been here, I love the traditional dishes of the region, every or almost every time I'm in Elvas it's a mandatory stop, it's a shame the room is small

On a Saturday night, after having crossed the Iberian peninsula, I arrive in Elvas for dinner around 9pm and I am disappointed when I am refused a meal in 2 very well-known restaurants in the city.
But, as there are evils that come with good, I discovered this "oasis" of friendliness and divine food.
The owner is top notch, the food is 5 stars, the ambient music is very pleasant.
But what really brought me to my knees was the dessert. An almond and gila tart that I can easily classify as perhaps the best dessert I've ever had in a restaurant in my respected 50 years of life.
Congratulations Mr. António
I will definitely recommend it to all my friends

How good it is to be welcomed with open arms and wonderful food. Another year in which this restaurant is my favorite in Elvas, it never disappoints me. Thank you very much to Mr Antonio and all the staff. We will be back and I will always recommend it. Thank you.

Although the food and service were what I consider to be close to excellence, I felt a little deceived... the bill came with a double amount of a product consumed, which is perfectly acceptable as an error and was corrected. When paying, a POS was used which gave an "anomaly", it was removed from our view and we ended up making the payment at another POS which ended up duplicating it. The problem was resolved at the moment as soon as I detected the duplication in the bill... it was a bittersweet memory, since up until that point we were really satisfied, both with the food and with the service and space itself.
It was delicious! Perfect service! Only to recommend!

We went to visit Elvas and entered this restaurant. When we arrived there were many free tables but it was full, so I recommend making a reservation. We ate very good cod a brás (sea bream) and a very good portion (for two perfectly) and Alentejo meat, these are pork tacos with clams that accompany white rice, it was good but we were a little disappointed, in this case the ration was scarcer. For dessert we ordered serradura, a typical Portuguese dessert, which was good.
As in all, or almost all, Portuguese restaurants they give you an "appetizer" (petisco), which is charged (if you don't want it, decline it) and in our case it was a salad of crab sticks, bread and olives. The waiter very friendly and attentive.
I didn't like the price of the water at all, a 3/4 liter bottle of filtered water from the time, €2.75.
The place is not bad, but it was expensive for me. I think when we come back we will try another one.
Parking: Look for a nearby parking lot. We left the car in one outside the urban center.
Kid-friendliness: Yeah.

Everything was perfect. The food was delicious, the waiter was very attentive!!! As an appetizer they gave us some stewed olives, some cod fritters and a cod salad. And then we ordered Roasted octopus. Cod with clams. Burger with fries. And for dessert, camel slime. Serradura and crepes with chocolate syrup. Everything delicious.

This place has been a big surprise from all perspectives. After 9 days visiting half of the Portugal here I found the best codfish (suggested the one with clams), but in reality all the food was good, the service very nice and the best is to see all the local people enjoying a dinner and for the whole time singing emotional Alentejo and Elvas songs and poetry with all tables cheering and becoming a single one. The last part can be something that happen not so frequently, but the rest is assured.

I highly recommend this site. The person who attended us was very friendly and spoke to us in Spanish the entire time, something that was appreciated. The sardines and golden cod were delicious and the portions were large. For dessert we ordered serraduras and chocolate mousse and we loved them too.
