Nice please to be. Friendly staff, always keep one yes on me and on my table. Delicious food, fresh from ocean and tasty. Advice to go
Perfect restaurant in Santa Cruz town. Perfect food, perfect service. Martin ( our guide in the restaurant ) was very pleasunt and helpful with the wine decision and food. We tried grilled limpets, octopus taver style, steak tavern style. All dished were very delicious. For sure need to try and ask Martin! ❤️?
We stopped here for lunch on our way back to Funchal, after visiting Machico beach. We sat outside and were given menus immediately. The restaurant is in a square which is very picturesque. The waiters were very attentive and took our food and drinks order very quickly. My son ordered a ham and cheese toasted sandwich and my wife and I ordered some tapas. The food and drinks arrived very quickly and were excellent. I especially liked the shrimp tapas which was delicious. Well worth a visit.
(Translated by Google) You have a great time at Taverna Bom Petisco. From D. Bela's food to Mr. Pereira who knows how to put us at ease!!(Original)Está-se muito bem na Taverna Bom Petisco. Desde a comida da D. Bela à simpatia do Sr. Pereira que nos sabe por à vontade!!
My husband and I visited Taberna for a lunch and we were more than happy with our choice! The food here is amazing! For starters we had grilled limpets and mussels with garlic bread which were very tasty. For the mains we took house specialites, octopus and shripms jordáo style. I can't find the words to describes these dishes; the octopus was so soft, sweet and delicious! We also took desserts, lime cheesecake and cottage cheese tart and those were very tasty too. We would definitely recommend this place to everyone and will be coming again for sure!

(Translated by Google) Excellent homemade food and very familiar treatment. The place is secluded and without great luxuries but it is well worth it for the treatment and the good taste of the food. The expected cod.(Original)Comida casera excelente y trato muy familiar. We had a glass of beer here with my wife five years ago on our wedding day. Today we returned for a quick dinner. We chose the spicy shrimp and the scabbardfish. At ordering, Martin (who, reading the comments here, is apparently the owner?) suggested that we take the shrimps first, the fish later, and share - this turned out to be a wonderful idea. The spicy shrimp was awesome; the fish was a tiny bit oily for my taste (my wife argues, she loved it), but still very tasty. The service was extremely nice and fast - although they were full at the time, everyone was kind and friendly. Recommended!
Fantastic food dor unexpectable prices. We loved it. Had octopus and scabbard fish. Be aware that the disher are for 2 persons and we never finished it. Really great valie dor your money. Staff ver friendly. Locals come here, so it says something. Enjooy!

The spicy shrimp was fine....perhaps a 3.5-4, but the tuna steak was ordered to be medium rare, but was cut so thin that it would be impossible for the chef to grill anything less than medium....hence a dry piece of tuna....2.5-3. You will do better at other in-town restaurants....unless you are mainly here for the Poncha.
Great food for a good price. We took the house specials shrimps as a starter and the stake as a main, recommended! The owner Martin is a nice guy. Should visit this place when you're in Santa Cruz. Has some tables outside and plenty of tables inside aswell.
Came her with my teacher wife. Food was incredible, even she, in her bitter mind, loved the food and had a great time. Wluld come again.
It took some time for us (despite several staff lounging around) to get someone to take us to a table and give us a menu. We both found the food overly rich and greasy. The huge lumps of fried polenta, plus the chips, was just all too much. I had the spicy octopus, it was tasty, but also very oily. I like my grub but I had to leave some as it was actually starting to make me feel a bit ill. The house red wine was ok, but not to the level I had experienced elsewhere in town. The service was as minimal as it could be. An underwhelming experience and we chose to eat elsewhere after that
very good and huge portion of meat, if u are a smaller person, I would recommend having half a portion. We also tasted their sandwiches, they were tasty and mine was made to local bread. Usually busy place, but totally worth the visit.
