“A wonderful place. Located in a small bay that empties pleasantly in the evening, you can sit on the terrace right on the beach with a view of the sea. The service was always attentive and the staff were very friendly and fond of children. The kids got two helpings of the children's spaghetti bolo. The menu is clear, but there is always fresh grilled fish that you can choose from on display. Grilled calamari, sea bream, red snapper and much more are on the plate. The fish are filleted by the table service. You can easily go from beach day to dinner here in swim shorts and shorts. Very relaxed, simple, delicious - that's all I need on vacation. The prices are fair and, starting at €60/kg for fresh fish, are typically cheap in the area.
There is a kiosk window where you can stock up on small drinks, snacks and ice cream during the day.
Absolute recommendation for a simple, relaxed, friendly and very tasty dinner where the kids can play and kick on the beach in between :-)

“Recommended during our visit to the Sardine Museum in Portimao, very friendly welcome and in our language (French) varied menu and attractive prices with local white wine everything was delicious! “Our dishes (black linguini seafood and mussel risotto) was high quality and good price. Very tasty and lots of various seafood. The walk down the relatively steep and dark staircase can be a little daunting but worth it. Wednesday November 15th was the last day open for the season. Otherwise we would gladly have visited again. Opening again somtime early next year. The sunset picture is taken before we went down the staircase. It seems that google this is part of a hotel which it is not. It might have been associated with Holiday Inn nextdoors. The hotel is closed for refurbishment and will open later under new management.“

“Absolutely deserves it status at a top restaurant. Had a taster menu and it was delicious from start to finish.

I’ve chosen not to post all courses so save the surprises but my stand outs were the squid dish which is probably in my top five dishes of all time. And also the orange tree.

A large salad with goat cheese toast and incredible honey mustard vinaigrette!
And for dishes, a falafel burger and sea bream, everything is fresh and seasoned perfectly!

We might as well tell you that we had a blast!!
10/10 a treat of fresh produce and exclusively homemade compositions!!

“Friendly and caring staff, it only gets 3 stars due to poor reservation management. Of the 2 times I went there, one only accepted reservations until 12:30 pm... the other only after 9:30 pm and they still made me wait 45 minutes with people without appointments passing by.“

Owner very nice and caring - restaurant typically Portuguese - very sociable and the pizza was one of the best pizzas I have ever eaten in my life and the price for €11.50 was completely fine for what I would pay in Germany

“First things first, three stars doesn’t mean the service was bad (you don’t have to give 5 stars for everything) or that the atmosphere was poor. Both were good, there just wasn’t any scope for it to be better (through no fault of anyone). The food was great, my wife had a fantastic tiger prawn which was delicious, my son had crab for the first time and it was an event. Crab is always tasty but he got such a kick out of it that it would have been worth twice the price. I chose the Iberian pork which while tasty was only chosen to give the other two a fallback option if they didn’t like their crustaceans. Needless to say I won’t make that mistake again as the shellfish feckers (see what I did there, I know- hilarious) polished them off.“

“What a find!! We have been coming to Carvoeiro for over 14 years and this has to be our best find. Andre is a superb host, attentive to the needs of his guests interacting well with the whole family. All the staff team are friendly and efficient. The menu both at lunch and in the evening is limited, however it doesn't need to be anything more. The food is delicious and very reasonably priced. My husband enjoyed the best steak he has ever had, and my 11 year old loved the seabass. You will not be disappointed, and we will definitely be paying future visits!!“

“We were recommended to the O Barril from our hotel and TripAdvisor but that was fully booked due to the football games playing in the square so my partner and I discovered this hidden gem.
We tend to avoid the typical tourist restaurants catered more to the English as we are on holiday and want to try new things. This place was what we were after great food and service.
My partner had Portuguese steak and potato, which she loved so I had a tiny bit to try and it was really nice. I decided to order the same meal the night after but in O Barril..this was far from as nice.
The menu is a bit pricier that some of the other places to eat but we managed to get a table outside, and we were able to watch the sunset and thought it was really worth the price. Brilliant meal to start off our holiday.“
