Just ask waiter who will advise what is vegan / can be made vegan. Very friendly and helpful staff. Very tasty food. Great location on harbour. Sunny and warmest spot of Madeira.

Offers to adapt dishes and make them vegan on request, only needs to be mentioned to the friendly staff. The menu already has some vegan options.

Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. This was unfortunately the only bad experience we had in Madeira. We were seated at a dirty table, and the service had no sense of urgency whatsoever. Although they had plenty of staff and the restaurant was half full, it took over 20 minutes to get the bottled water we ordered.

The wait times continued. Naan bread took another 30 minutes after ordering. When the main courses finally arrived, I was shocked by how unappealing the sushi looked. The chives on top looked old, and the taste/texture of the sushi was disappointing. My partner ordered the house special chicken which was decent, but nothing special as it entailed. Rice was an extra cost, and the rice tasted/felt as if it had been sitting out all day.

The worst part wasn't the food, but the fact that the staff didn't seem to care about the guests experience. I had no silverware, my sushi came without chopsticks, and after asking for some, they weren't brought over for another 10 minutes. My partners food was cold at that point.

The menu is massive and it seems like they focus on quantity instead of quality. They probably rely on one-time tourists because there wouldn't be many return customers otherwise.

Good food, ate there twice in total.
The restaurant is not overcrowded, the ambience leaves something to be desired, the high chair was slightly broken and the terrace is sometimes broken and unhygienic.
You should calculate at least €20 per person; rice, for example, is not included.

Super tasty food (sushi and Indian). The staff were incredibly nice and courteous and naturally made it possible to order off the menu! The price-performance ratio is great and you get what you pay for!
We will definitely be back again!

The best restaurant we visited in Madeira. Very nice and relaxed service, short waiting times and unbeatable location right at the harbor. And especially great food too!

A few days ago my husband and I wanted to experience a new sushi place, since we were in the Tabua area, we thought we would try this place.

I called Buddha & Sakura several times, at lunchtime, around 12:30-1 p.m. and no one ever answered, even though it said it was open here on Google.

For this sad reason, we opted not to make it all the way to Calheta and ended up going to a reputable sushi restaurant in Funchal.

I hope that the next time I want to try, they will answer the phone, so I can go there and be sure not to miss the trip.

We were in the restaurant last night. The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. A welcome change from what you would otherwise find in most restaurants in Madeira.
Really highly recommended.
