Beautiful small place inside the hotel with nice atmosphere. Staff was very welcoming and friendly. Food was terrible. Soup was barely warmed up, definitely not cooked for me. Same with cauliflower puree. Chicken breast medallions for kids were rock hard throughout. Honestly, never seen breast that terribly cooked in my life. Very disappointed.

In 3 weeks of traveling trough Portugal that was by far the worst dinner we had. We ordered some bread and butter as well as oven baked cheese and beef tartare as a starter. Brewed was dry and old butter had a black hair inside. The beef tartare was a lazy chopped piece of meat that was chewy and totally over-seasoned, no caper, no onions, no egg. Instead of toast it came with industry rusk. Even worse were the main dishes! The duck was cocked to death and the steaks of bad quality. Instead of saffron rice they came with totally over-seasoned curry rice and potato crisps. We left the table without eating and went to a restaurant in the neighborhood. Complete nightmare.

We went to their restaurant 1556 for lunch one day and went back nearly every day we could thereafter - excellent food, service and atmosphere and a special commendation to Joao whose above and beyond service made it all extra special. Very highly recommended, we would most definitely go again.

It's a nice and cozy restaurant but the food is a bit overpriced for the quality. The menu is not very extensive but it's fair. Slow but super friendly and kind service.
