We have been eating on August 3, 2024 and it is a GREAT restaurant with some expensive things, like beer or coffee. French fries cut bakery style. For Portugal......expensive and the dishes are not abundant, although delicious.

It's a "must" in Évora. Relaxed space full of history that the staff knows how to share with customers. Well prepared typical food and a good wine list with a special focus on those from the region. Friendly and efficient service, even when recommending a good wine.
Congratulations

We were taken here by our driver after a tour. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality and taste of the food. My husband had the ox tail and was the best he had ever had and I had the cod which was also very tasty. The portion for both were huge we could have shared one dish between the two of us.

Codfish soup is a true attack on Portuguese gastronomy!
Being innovative, yes, but without trivializing the best we have in our country, which is our gastronomy!
Calling a soup with no flavor at all with 3 pieces of bread floating in it, I would say a soup for patients with hypertension is a chef's tip.

I tried to have dinner at 9:45 pm and couldn't. They said they were closed, even though the restaurant description said it closed at 10:30 pm. The gentleman, besides not being particularly friendly, before telling me that it was already closed, he looked at me from top to bottom, maybe he didn't like my attire or it was something else... either way, it's very little manners to do such a thing.
Very good atmosphere, very friendly and available employees. We went here for a group dinner and it was a great place to hang out. Regarding the food, everything was very good, varied and well prepared starters, incredible dogfish soup. My only comment is regarding the sericaia which, although not bad, I found it a little dry but this detail is not enough to give it less than 5 stars.

Looking at the heartfelt review of Marc W in 2018, we are sad to report that nothing has improved at this restaurant. We were unwelcome at the door by an officious and unfriendly waiter. She exhibited great charm to the neighboring table, made up of local residents. The prawns were a cheap defrosted offering, the black pork dish was an oily mush. All in all there was nothing to recommend at this establishment. A large bill rounded off the proceedings and left a bad taste. Why oh why. Tourists enter at your peril.

When you sit down, the table is already set with starters that are not explained about the price, or if you want to eat, they just leave it on the table and when I ask for what I want to eat, everything is charged, including what I didn't order. I do not recommend! It was 40 euros more than I consumed. The waiter just takes it away and in the end everything is charged, truly absurd!!!

This is a very traditional Évora restaurant. All the dishes have Alentejo characteristics, especially the Rabo de boi (oxtail) is the best I have eaten in Portugal. It is cooked with red wine, but without alcohol. It is very delicious and must be tasted. There is also a special cellar for storing red wine, and it is very professionally equipped with a constant temperature box to store some wine. The waiter is very enthusiastic and will come to ask us how we eat, how we feel, and if there are any problems. This is my second time in this restaurant. Almost all the dishes will not be a problem so you can choose with confidence. Compared with other local restaurants, this one is more traditional.
