The service was very attentive and the place was beautiful, but the food could have been much improved. The gratin mushrooms had hardly any cheese and were overcooked in the oven. The risotto was a pasta and only the fried fish and the Cartuxa rosé wine were saved. I don't know if we didn't choose well but we were quite disappointed.

Beautiful decor and many choices of local wines. We had a cheese board with bread. It was creamy and delicious. The shrimp appetizer was also excellent. The octopus was very tender with a light flavor. Their dessert flan with olive oil and olives is a must. Light and not too sweet. The olives are somewhat candied and are just delicious. Service was impeccable and our waiter described the foods and made suggestions on wines based on our descriptions of what we like to drink. ( do try to have reservations, if it’s slow they might say yes but as we sat there many were turned away for not having reservations. )

We left Lisbon to visit the Cartuxa enoteca in Évora
Upon arriving at the door, we were greeted by a bald man with glasses (I'm describing it this way because unfortunately I didn't ask the person's name)
After asking if it was open, because there was no one inside the restaurant, I was told yes.
So, I went directly to the store next door, bought two bottles of wine and then went to the restaurant in the next room.
After waiting for 15 minutes and after checking the menu I was informed by the same man that he could only provide me with drinks at the counter because the tables were all occupied by reservations DESPITE THERE BEING ABSOLUTELY NO ONE IN THE PLACE!

A service that is absolutely close to contempt and disrespect

So we looked for another option, Cavalaria Évora, which received extremely good service and was surprised by the delicious food and excellent service from its employees.

It is one of my favorite places in Evora. This Enoteca located in a magical space is excellent in both service, product and wines. I recommend that you let yourself be carried away by its delicacies, by its wonderfully decorated space.

At first they are a bit stiff, especially if you don't have a reservation. But the food and service are very good. I recommend trying their own wines.
The bras cod they make is something different but it is mandatory to try it: a delight. It is an original dish that gives a new twist to this tradition.

One downside: if they want to be so uptight, maybe the waiter shouldn't wear slippers and the waitress put her hair up.

Our family of 5 loved the food! Everything was delicious. The portions were small and both the food and wine was pricey- however also yummy!

We had the shrimp with garlic and rosemary, the ratatouille, mushrooms, steak, risotto with sea bass and the chefs special with egg and French fries. All were great!

We were going to go back where we already ate well. Unfortunately, I don't know if it was because we are a humble Portuguese family, or because of the sweaty 40 degrees outside, or because we have a 3 year old child (who behaves better than many adults), but we were "nicely expelled". Nobody literally kicked us out, but they used every excuse to not want to stay. First it was a table of 4, where they couldn't put the child on top (we were 4 adults and one child). We said she could stay on our lap, they replied that we wouldn't be comfortable. We said it didn't matter to us. Then it was because there were many tables to be served and it would take a long time. We said we were in no rush. They mumbled something else, but we decided to leave because we were clearly not welcome. We won't be back. Fortunately, we went to knock on a nearby door (witch) and despite the full house we were welcomed like family.

The nice place, they told us that they didn't have space, with tables being free, when they saw that we had children, and it was 2:00 p.m., that's why I rate it that way.

If you’re like me and have a hard time hearing in restaurants that are loud ,then this is definitely the place for you . It is acoustically superb. that being said their food was delicious and innovative service was fantastic and of course they have an incredible selection of wine centrally located it was a wonderful dining experience.

We didn't have a reservation but the waiter let us in (thank you, I think) on the condition that we clear the table in 1:40, which we agreed to, but he just forgot to warn us that main dishes took more than 1:15 to be ready and They literally didn't allow us to order these dishes, only starters and dessert. I would understand if they had warned me before I entered and started my order, but they only said it after I had already ordered the starters and after I had decided on the main course that they didn't let me order. However, the food was terrible, some mushrooms apparently from the day before (only a dessert saved this experience) but in short it cost us a lot. Another factor is that we don't drink alcohol and I felt treated like an alien for that. Every time we ordered olive oil there was a measly portion accompanied by an expression of inconvenience (I even asked myself if I was asking for free it would even justify those faces and mouths, but no, each small dish was 2.50 euros. So far OK, but if I I'm paying for the olive oil WHY THE FUCK are there so many ugly faces to serve me the olive oil?????) anyway, I don't recommend it

Excellent choice for lunch!
For those who like and understand wine, there is nothing like arriving and meeting, in a restaurant, someone with understanding and who is happy to explain and discuss the house wines. A pleasant surprise on all levels, from the service, to the meal and, incredibly exciting, a corridor of grape variety aromas!
I highly recommend the gastronomic experience. I highlight the Sommelier’s service!

Very good food, enthusiastic staff and excellent wines. Nonetheless, the price for the wines per glass are a bit excessive. Also the bottle of wine that i bought in their store (inside the restaurant), was more expensive then the average price on a regular wine shop. ?
