Spectacular place, with great service and good food! I recommend it as a mandatory stop for anyone coming to this beautiful city!
A very pleasant dinner, in a very peaceful and well decorated environment. The cover with Alentejo bread, sheep's cheese and local olive oil was great! We tried several dishes, highlighting the Alentejo Açorda, the octopus and the tenderloin with almond crust!

Bad food, no quality and no presentation. Very bad for the expectations created by the name Pestana.
The lamp above our table had spider webs all the way to the object above the decorative table.?

Food is far below average - yet it seems that mainly American guests are more impressed by the Ambiente (which indeed is really superb) than by the quality of the food. We complaint about the food quality yet not really any reaction by the waiter. Looking at others people plate food quality also liked far below average.
Net not recommended for nice dinner. If you want to enjoy the Ambiente only, then recommended

Beautiful upscale romantic dining A touch of class and special service from Attentive staff. Menu has limited selection altho well presented and tasteful. Fish soup could be heartier with more flavor. Enjoyed our experience
Great atmosphere and music! Staff offered wine suggestions with the food ordered and it was great. Food was delicious. Would frequent this place if we were locals.
This was a great experience
Fabulous service from a very charismatic waiter. Everything else was very poor. We were given a starter we did not order from a waiter that did not talk to us and then charged for it. The pork tenderloin was so salty it was inedible, the entrecote steak was not cooked well and the grilled vegetables were raw. The whole experience was so disappointing, the only highlight was the waiter, who managed everything with such diplomacy and tact that we raised our review from a one star.
Really enjoyed the food. Interesting flavours. Couvert was delicious although we did not ask for it. Because of that I was not able to eat a starter as well. Good portions. My husband had a sweet but I was too full to attempt one. They did offer a variety of teas as well, not just coffee. All in all a very enjoyabkw evening.

Having looked forward to lunch in the cloister of this well regarded hotel, we were greeted with a dour waiter saying that they were only giving lunch to groups! I showed him our conformation from TheFork and he went away for ages, leaving us standing aimlessly. On his return , he first disbelieved us abs eventually said we could eat but only with the group menu. As it was 30 degrees and late, we had little choice . The menu was generous in scope but delivery was hardly to the standard we expected from the Pousada. Rather what a 3 star group would expect. Sadly, I would look elsewhere in Evora.
At first glance, you might think “this looks like somewhere too posh and expensive for me to eat”, but don’t be fooled. The menu and prices are clearly displayed outside the front door and we thought it was great value compared to other restaurants in Evora. João was our charming host, and he spoke excellent English, having previously worked in restaurants in Devon in the U.K. The fabulous surroundings of the magnificent convent building cloisters provide an ambience that was quite unique and majestic. A lovely late lunch for two and all for 65 Euros. Whta’s Not to like?
