We were here as a family on our last day in Evora and we regretted saying goodbye to this city even more after this visit. The meals were really tasty and extremely filling. The tuna is a poem! The wine recommendation was also extremely tasty. After a not so good experience with a restaurant in the Alcarcova de Baixo restaurant alley, we ignored the statement in our guide that the eating places around the old market hall weren't that great and didn't regret it!

After walking around town, we decided on Tania do Naldo. It was a good experience though the flies were a bit annoying. We weren’t really that hungry because it was really hot and humid out. The salmon salad was nice and fresh. The garlic shrimp was super garlicky and tasty. Overall a good choice for a sleepy town.

A great boss with his heart in the right place and with attentive and helpful employees. The boss greeted us personally upon arrival and brought us a cold bottle of water as requested. All dishes are illustrated on the menu and explained in detail by the waiter. Questions were asked about allergies or intolerances. We had the tapas platter and the baked cheese, and it was incredibly tasty. At the end there was vanilla ice cream with a cake without flour and sugar, which is not that common.

At first the prices seemed intimidating but we decided to take the risk and explore. We shared a sirloin and how good it was. It arrived perfectly for two people. Incredible sautéed vegetables and the detail of the caramelized orange surprised me. Divine dessert! The fans should be appreciated as I went on a 40 degree day. Thanks!
Yesterday, we visited this place based on ratings and opening time. A nice waiter prepared us a table with appertizers (olives and bread). Everything was well, until we spotted a COCKROACH in our olives. The waiter looked astonished, appologizing several times, apparently even calling the restaurant owner. But our appetite was gone. He offered us gratis deserts for the trouble we experienced, but did not have any reservations charging us for the rest (including those unfortunate olives). I have mixed feeling about what happened. I inderstand that it is hard work running a restaurant and keeping sanitary conditions flawless with more than 30 degrees Celsius outside. It is also the first time something like this happened to me. So I will avoid being judgemental. Let everyone reading this make up their own mental picture about what happened and decide whether to visit this place or not.

By the time I finished my meal, I had tears in my eyes from the sheer delight! Meeting the chef himself, who crafted these incredible dishes, was a true highlight. I have to say, it was undoubtedly one of the best meals I've had in Portugal, and I've eaten everywhere. Naldo's creativity goes beyond traditional Portuguese cuisine, delivering dishes that are both delicious and pleasantly surprising. This restaurant truly redeemed my culinary experience after a disappointing lunch at a highly recommended tourist trap (I prefer not to name but it rhymes with “yellow”). Thank you for such an unforgettable meal!
