Fantastic! With no choice (and thank goodness), we were served authentic wonders, from dates with bacon to beef tongue sandwiches and even the best pudding, which was made from mountain cheese!!!! This cozy space has a different concept, as the menu changes daily according to fresh local products! A true gem in Évora! I will come back as often as possible! Reservation in advance mandatory. More than fair price for the quantity and quality presented!!!

Reserved a place for our family (2 adults & 2 little kids). Friendly (but not overtly attentive) service, adjusted the food for my husband who doesn’t eat pork, and our little kids. I made a reservation 1 week in advance for the “Typical Wednesday Tavern”, I called twice to confirm that everything was confirmed and in order (for the 23rd of July), and I was never told anything to the contrary.
Even though we were staying in Avis, 50km from Évora, we made a point of making the round trip by car (approximately 2 hours). When we arrived, 10 minutes in advance, we were told that our reservation was made for the next day...
Clearly a communication error that the restaurant did not try to justify/solve (not even mentioning the effort associated with the 100km journey). We could have waited until there was a table, or tried to find another solution (since some tables were already finished), but it was only mentioned that the house was “full”.
It was an extremely unpleasant situation (both for me and my family). Although we didn't have the opportunity to have dinner, I can say that the service leaves a lot to be desired, as does the care for the end customer - something particularly different from what we are used to in Alentejo restaurants.
We ended up having to go to another restaurant. Fortunately, a great surprise, even with a reservation made from one minute to the next. This is what we value!

Amazing place! We have been here before and they way the keep the quality and its essence to Évora and the restaurant atmosphere is amazing! Highly recommended but you need to book in advance. You can’t choose what you are eating but it’s amazing journey into Alentejo’s best treats / food! It won’t disappoint and you will be pleasantly surprised throughout! It’s an amazing feast ! Trust them they know exactly what they are doing!

We found this place by accident. Luckily we were there when they opened so we managed to get a table. As soon as we sat down and were told that there was no menu we knew it was going to be special. Sevice was exceptional and food was even better. Be warned though, I was so stuffed when I left that I had to go and have a nap!
