Our dinner at Machado was one of the best, most memorable parts of our 1.5 weeks in Portugal! They brought out so much food, a big jug of wine, sangria, apps, and many different kinds of bread!!!! The pork was delicious. The staff was amazing in an irreverent way, and we loved every part of this whole experience! The apple crumble dessert was particularly phenomenal! And the price was extremely reasonable! We would travel back to Porto, Portugal just to go to this restaurant again! It was that good!

Going to this restaurant is like going to your cousin’s home for dinner. All the appetizers, the main and desserts are pre-planned and meticulously prepared in an inclusive dinner. If you decline to try one of the dishes the servers seem disappointed as they take pride in stuffing you to your eyeballs. (The food was prepared with love after all). We knew we were in for an experience when the owner told us “I will serve you our menu and we won’t change a thing. If you don’t like it frankly I don’t care- I’ve been doing this the same way for 32 years”. It is a must-try for an immersive cultural experience and amazing farm-to-table traditional food.
