“Absolutely outstanding restaurant. The chef creativity and execution of the food was incredible. The service was impeccable, very knowledgeable staff. Daniel was great!
We tried the Scallops, which were divine. We then the octopus which was also very good. These were matched with Sidonio de Sousa sparkling wine. We then had the Sea Bass with clams risotto - this was an absolutely outstanding dish! Wow... Finally we tried the lobster with a delicious risotto as well. These dishes were matched with Insula Chao de Lavas, an outstanding wine, perfectly matching the dishes. Finally, we tried their version of the tiramisu...again what a version! Delicious and matching was the fantastic Vinho Madeira Borges! All in all an excellent dinner! Thank you to all the team..“

“Restaurant, where the food is very good, affordable prices and very friendly staff. I advise you to keep your eyes closed. The dishes are plentiful. We were there for our daughter's 18th birthday. She was entitled to her candle on her dessert and an effigy 18.
Many thanks to you.
And before paying the bill, we double-check everything we ate together at the counter. No error possible.

“As for this restaurant, the building itself is a monument. It has such a nice interior in a perfect location right by the sea. You can see the outside through the large window, but I couldn't see outside because I had dinner. There are 22 course menus, of which we ordered 7 courses. All the dishes were perfect, but the prawns and cod were especially good. Our expectations for a Michelin two-star restaurant were very high, but this restaurant perfectly met them. Also, they gave me a tour of the kitchen before desert, which was also a very interesting experience. They gave us a tea as gift when we left. Strongly recommended.“

“The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is the price... we are eating good meat, but it is still too expensive for what it is.
However, the food is good, the space is different and very pleasant and the service is also very good.
For those who like good meat and don't look at the price, this is a very good restaurant :)
Vegetarian options: Restaurant for those who like meat :)
Dietary restrictions: If you ask, they will definitely help
Parking: Street parking but not easy
Kid-friendliness: Yes, you can go with family

Our visit to Lessa made our trip to Porto complete, such love for food, beautiful signature dishes, layerd taste, fresh ingrediënts, bold flavours combined with soft textures and surprising elements that either melt or explode in your mouth. Great taste, incredible refinement in food and wines! And great staff, they are all sweet, seriously skillfull and passionate people! We absolutely recommend this treasure.“

“Mandatory stop if you pass through Povoa, it is a restaurant in a large library with a unique and very cozy atmosphere.
Everything perfect, exquisite service and food, excellent quality/price ratio.
I would return without hesitation, it is a unique, unique and highly recommended place.“

“Excellent restaurant to eat quality fresh and well-cooked fish. Quality and concerned service. Price a little high for the house but perhaps in line with the competition. The invoice is not detailed, only mentioning the number of meals and the price.
Easy parking in the area.
For the quality, I recommend it.“

“We came to this restaurant when we were searching for restaurants near Sá Carneiro airport. The first impression is excellent. The owner is super friendly, the food is excellent, we ate cod with cornbread and prawn linguini. Excellently made and reasonably priced. We still meet Rita, the kitten who is already part of the house. Highly recommendable. We will be back.“

“Excellent service for excellent food. Very polite employees and always available. Lunch started at 2:00 pm and only ended at 5:00 pm even though the kitchen closed at 3:00 pm, the entire staff was super friendly and unlike many restaurants they allowed lunch to finish without rushing us. We also had a friendly visit from Mr António, the owner. He came to greet us personally and ask if everything was ok and thank us for our visit. All orders were divine. The octopus à lagareiro that I ate, using a different recipe, was tender and very well seasoned. But the best was saved for last, the moist sponge cake with a scoop of ice cream. Everything homemade and no words to describe the sponge cake, it was so good. The price is more than fair for the quality presented. Around 40 euros per person.“

“We were highly recommended by a local colleague to have our lunch here. The restaurant, located near the seaside of Porto, boasts beautifully decorated interiors and exteriors. I enjoyed the fresh seafood, especially the catch of the day from the ocean. We shared a large grilled seabass, commonly caught in these waters, and it was delicious and fresh, simply grilled to perfection. I also loved the clams, which were incredibly fresh and cooked simply with olive oil, making them so flavorful and tasty, full of umami. Paired with the local Douro River white wine, it was a fantastic experience! My other colleague chose the local beef, which looked delicious as well. We ended the meal with cheesecake and tiramisu, both delightful. The service was fantastic, despite only one waitress speaking good English. Overall, it’s a great place to enjoy excellent cooking.“

“Very good value for money, in addition, the fish dishes are very large, ideal for sharing between two. We ordered a grilled sea bream and it was delicious, accompanied by seasoned boiled potatoes and vegetables. The service, very attentive. We went with three babies and they were very patient. Highly recommended.“

“Chose this place amongst all the other seafood restaurants along the street as it had a large patio and the shortest wait list. So glad we did as the food was so fresh and delicious! We had grilled sardines, squid and garlic potatoes, and a bottle of wine. Hands down the best value for money meal we had during our trip. Highly recommended.“

“My wife, 5 year old daughter and I just had the most lovely meal. My wife and I had the Scruff and beef rump and it was delectable and delicious. It was accompanied by a piping hot mushroom risotto and roasted vegetables. The meat was melt in your mouth and perfectly seasoned.
The kids menu was delightful. A well received vegetable soup was first. The main course was a moist and savory chicken breast with handmade potato chips (north american thin chips not the UK colloquialism for French fries). My daughter nearly ate the entire thing but the generous portion was just a little too great for her 5 year old belly.
The dessert was a simple vanilla ice cream that was creamy and not-too-sweey. A beautiful end to a fabulous meal.
We had the wonderful opportunity to meet the Chef, Rul Santos. He regaled us with some of the history of the local vermouth and the founding of the restaurant itself. We cannot recommend the restaurant enough to anyone and everyone. 5 stars!
Kid-friendliness: The kids menu was great value and it was delicious. If it were allowed I would have easily ordered it for my adult self“

“We were walking from Póvoa de Varzim to São Félix hills on a sunny day. We were using the village route as it gradually takes to top. In between at Terroso we took a break at this cafe. Very nice cosy place decorated with agricultural instruments in a pleasant way. Very helpful staff. We will go again on our next walk.“

“Everything was worth it, from the broken cod eggs to the cod feijoada, but the sea rice won my heart. And Alexandre's service was the icing on the cake.
Kindness, friendliness and promptness are some of the words that can describe the service provided by Alexandre.
Congratulations to this beautiful restaurant, I will certainly return“

“We chose dishes of the day, sea bream with quinoa and vegetables and shrimp risotto. I had never eaten quinoa before, I was a little apprehensive. Both dishes were delicious. It should be noted that at first it even came with vegetable cream, which was also great. To finish, some slices of cream pie, apple pie, and red fruit cheesecake. Homemade cakes. Very good. Attentive and friendly service. Cozy atmosphere.“

“Excellent!
Well prepared dishes, with one very small flaw! Sufficient quantity.
The "almost" perfect sea rice!
Very professional staff, attentive, friendly and very willing.
The room is large and quiet.
Price, although a little high, is still almost fair.
I will definitely go back and recommend it without a shadow of a doubt.“

“A couple of us went for dinner, we let ourselves be guided by the Google reviews and we didn't fail.
Very attentive and pleasant waiters, orders came out quickly and well even though the restaurant was full.
Apart from the typical starters that are typical of Portugal, they served us a Broa bread filled with cheese and mayonnaise that was delicious, we also ordered a seafood rice for two that was delicious and quite a lot for the price. That, plus a bottle of wine and a bottle of water, with coffee and dessert, were about €66 for both.
Highly recommended.
Parking: Parking on the street, right in front of the beach.“

“The food was lovely. An amazing treat. We would return simply for the polvo and rice. Wouldn’t recommend with children though, the service is quite stiff and the restaurant quiet so was the least welcoming for families of all the restaurants we have ever been to in Portugal. However we had a nice time overall.“

“My Portuguese business partners recommended this restaurant for our dinner tonight. We took an Uber, which initially brought us to the original location. However, we were dining at the newer restaurant next door, which has updated decorations and a cleaner look. We were seated on the second level in a semi-private dining room without a door.
We ordered a variety of special croquettes with fish, crab, and shrimp fillings, which are unique local Portuguese dishes. The Spanish jamon was delicious. We also ordered crab, but the roe had been removed and blended with spices into a paste, served on biscuits. This tasted average, as the crab flavor was not very prominent.
One of the special crustacean dishes we tried was Acorn Barnacle (Cracas), a cousin of the goose barnacle. Harvesting these barnacles is dangerous since they cling to rocks, but they are considered a delicacy. Although they look unappealing, they taste incredibly delicious.
We also shared steamed scallops, which were tasty. For the main course, we had grilled giant corvina, freshly caught. The fish was prepared in two ways: the roe was cooked with herbs and could be spread on bread or eaten on its own, while the rest of the fish was fried and served with lemon sauce, making it very flavorful. The dish came with sides like boiled special vegetables and rice, which had a strong taste that might not be to everyone's liking.
For dessert, we enjoyed a good spread, including a half-cooked sponge cake with egg yolk and sugar inside, which was a bit too rich for me. We also had cheesecake and chocolate lava cake. A word of caution when ordering port: ask for the price beforehand. The port we had was quite expensive per glass, equivalent to the price of a whole bottle at the airport!
The semi-private room provided a good ambiance for business discussions, but unfortunately, a group of families with many children running, dancing, and shouting around made the dining experience very unpleasant.“

“Located within a natural park, the space is very beautiful and romantic.
The employees were very attentive, explaining the menu and presenting the meats before being grilled.
The restaurant's specialty is aged meats and that was the choice, the ribs were cooked to perfection and the meat was very tasty. The side dishes are also of equal quality. Repeating.“

“Illustrious restaurant, with a rating of 5 in the entire evaluation. I recommend Cod or Segoviano Piglet, which has a maximum gestation period of 20 or 21 days. Until then, he was fed with his mother's milk. In which it is carved with a plate, which demonstrates its real size and its young age...
However, you must make an appointment, both for Leitão and for your meal at Julinha...! I loved .“

“This is the place where we ate some of the best seafood and fish in Portugal. We waited an hour to get in but it was worth it. 95 percent of the people who eat there are locals. “Excellent and inexpensive cuisine compared to the quality and quantity that can be found in these dishes. The wines are also delicious, especially the white which I recommend as well as the Peruvian escalope which is absolutely perfect.
However, the waitress served us bread as well as cod accras which we had not ordered, telling us that it was the aperitif but that she still made us pay in the end (it must be admitted that the accras are not that expensive for their quality (19€ for 20))“

“Staying at Parque de Campismo de Vila Cha and went in search of local restaurants. What a fabulous and unexpected find! It may not look much from the street but the upstairs restaurant was lovely and full of locals which is usually a good sign. Staff were very attentive and food was absolutely delicious. “Our group of four ate lunch here after meeting Américo and Maria the day before, when they were closed but invited us in to talk about their gluten-free meal options for our one member with a celiac condition. We all had fish dishes that were, quite simply, remarkable. The fish was prepared very well and Maria served us at the table. The potatoes that accompanied the meal were also prepared perfectly. The atmosphere was homelike and we were all very-warmly received. We definitely recommend and will return!

“Praça Velha continues to be our go-to restaurant for the prato do dia. Every day, there is a meat or fish dish that is accompanied by salad and potatoes or rice. The meal is started with fresh soup and includes coffee and a dessert (often fresh fruit, chocolate mousse, creme brûlée, or baked cinnamon apple). The prato do dia is always a very-reasonable price and the owners and servers are excellent. You really feel at home here, as they treat each diner with respect. The food is always fresh! It is an easy walk from the main street (one block from the market area) and is nestled in a quaint street. There are about 12 tables for four, one table for 8 or 9, and numerous patio tables.“

“Certainement un des meilleurs restaurants de poissons du coin. Tout est très frais. Les cuissons sont parfaites. De vraies palourdes et non pas des palourdes surgelées. Un service efficace. “This was by far our best restaurant in the north of Portugal. With the choice of 4 fixed course choices or a la carte everyone can be satisfied. Small restaurant (4 tables) guaranteed personal attention. We felt as though we had a personal chef at Antonio’s house!! Perfected menu paired perfectly with wine and port. We have eaten at many world renowned restaurants and Casa do Arco can hold its own. My fear is that Michelin will here of this place and a booking will be impossible. Hands down the best restaurant in Pinhao. Don’t hesitate - treat yourself!!“

“If you are eating at only one restaurant this year, come here. I was served the Vitela (Veal) with potatoes, rice, vegetables, black beans.
Without a doubt, this is the best veal I have ever eaten.
Watch out for the starters, there is a lot of food so come very hungry.
The rest of our group came here specifically for the arroz de cabidela, a speciality here. I can't eat that and asked for something different and I was blessed with the Veal.
I could easily fast 6 days to have this meal on the 7th day.“

“Kid-friendliness: Bom acolhimento a todos, especialmente às crianças que por vezes na sua inquietude motivada pelo apetite são em uma forma sã subornadas com batatas acabadas de fritar. Com isto, é normal os proprietários fazerem esta oferta sempre que avistam uma criança dentro do estabelecimento e assim tornam a sua espera, diferente e acolhedora...quanto ao serviço é variável mantendo certos "pratos" sempre. “A very warm welcome to a classy but casual restaurant. After being seated we were shown a platter of fish caught locally that day to help us choose! Very tasty starters followed by superb fish mains and fresh veg. I could actually taste the sea in my bream. Could see the kitchen from our table - it all looked relaxed. Reasonably priced Algarve wine to accompany. After coffees we were offered complimentary glasses of port. Superb food, great staff and fantastic value especially for the quality on offer.“

“A house with history. The food is good considering that during the week the menu version, with everything it offers for 12 euros, is consensual: everyone likes it due to the relationship between quality and price. If you don't book, you'll want to arrive very early, and even if you do, parking can be difficult. The service is professional but the room is busy and a little noisy.“

“The restaurant is easy to find, being on a street corner opposite the Municipal Park in the centre of town. We decided to have an early dinner and were there just after the restaurant opened. Most tables had reserved signs on them. We were lucky in that we got a table without having had made a reservation. We soon understood why. Starters of mussels and vegetable soup were both delicious. My partner had an excellent lemon sole (Linguado) and I had octopus (Polvo a Largareiro) which is probably the best I've had anywhere. Both were served with boiled potato and lots of greens. As usual with Madeiran restaurants, the servings were extremely generous. We shared a decent bottle of white Douro and finished with a light dessert called Molotov, mainly fluffed egg white with a drizzle of caramel sauce and a dusting of cinnamon. The quality of everything was exceptional. By the time we had been served our desserts, the restaurant was not only full, but there was a line of around twenty people outside waiting for tables. Wine, water, coffee and three courses came to just over 100 euro for two which is very reasonable for this quality of fare. Service is friendly, efficient and knowledgeable. With a reputation like this restaurant has, I'd say it's essential to book. I'd go back in a heartbeat.“
