“One of the best places to dine in the center of Faro. We ordered octopus, garlic prawns and a mix of croquettes (prawns, cockles and razor clams) and we were delighted. The quality of their products is noticeable. Very friendly and fast service. A restaurant of 10.“
“We drove from Tavira after seeing this restaurant on Trip Advisor and it didn’t disappoint. Food was simply amazing along with the service. The owner was extremely friendly and informative and I won’t spoil the surprise but we cried with laughter too. Will definitely be back. Overall a superb night.“

“We had seen the Google reviews and they are totally true. A pleasure to eat in this restaurant very close to the center and in front of the port. Note that there is air conditioning inside, which is appreciated on these hot days. The food is very good. The burger is spectacular since the meat is 10 and if you order it just right it is great for those of us who like tartare. The rest of the dishes are spectacular. The carbonara for two girls were perfect, the detail of the egg in the middle was incredible. And the super attentive and pleasant service. We were amazed at the price. We couldn't do more and we paid less than €25 per person. Without a doubt we will repeat.
Parking: There are many blue zone parking spaces and a very cheap underground parking next door.
Kid-friendliness: Two adults and two girls ate without problem. My daughters loved it.“

“Wanted a small lunch, but ended up with a big meal because the food tasted so good.
We were greeted by a were friendly and proffesional waitress who showed us to our table.
A lot of the dishes seemed good so we decided to order some tapas instead of just one main course each. This was a good choice since every dish, apart from the sweet potatoes, were full of flavour.
The pièce de résistance was the lemon cake for dessert. Simple yet sooo delicious. It didnt hurt that we got an extra large piece.
Very pleased with this restaurant.“

“I decided to celebrate my birthday here and indulge in some scrumptious dishes, and let me tell you, it was absolutely fantastic! The team here is incredibly kind and welcoming. The seafood was so fresh that it felt like the fish were still swimming. I highly suggest bringing your loved ones or family here for a delightful meal. If you're a seafood lover, this is the place to be. To top it off, the team surprised me with a delicious crème brûlée. What a wonderful birthday dinner!“

“great prices in the center of Faro, also because today it is really hard to find salads for less than €16! Both salads and sandwiches are really good. Only advice: speed up the service a little and specify the constraints of the islands☺️“

“This place is a proper hidden gem! It doesn’t look like much from the outside and is a bit funny to get to but oh my god the food was amazing. The service is fantastic, very traditional quality of service that you rarely see anymore. I loved how they didn’t have menus but rather the menu is written on a board that they move around the restaurant. We were so impressed we came twice during our one week holiday in the Algarve. Also incredibly reasonably priced, given the quality of food and size of servings. Highly recommend, we will be back“

“5/5 no notes, just perfect. Bufet where all but one dish was vegan (the exception being a vegetarian pasta salad) and the lovely staff are more than happy to help you after they greated you with a warm welcome. When I went, they had 5 different, colourful salads with an amazing avocado sauce and 6 warm dishes, that all had a protein component (mushrooms with tofu, rice with beans, black bean stew). Every dish had its own, delicious twist. 11€ plus 4€ for the fresh juice was more than fairly priced, as you can load up your plate as much and often as you like. “Support !!! Can feel the strong bonding between the owner and the neighborhood, ppl coming in giving hugs and handshakes to him and another staff, even though we can't understand Portuguese, we can tell from their body language and facial expression, it's the passion and positive energy that brought people together, it's relationships that goes beyond and afar. This is the first restaurant we found after arriving in Faro, and it certainly deserves to be an honorable mention. Throughout our stay in Portugual for the past week and a bit, this has been by far the best Portuguese restaurant we've ever had, large portion, yet down to earth price for value, We've missed this restaurant so so so much more especially when we went to Porto and now at Lisbon. No competition whatsoever. Ranked no. 1 by our family of 4. Even though we couldn't speak Portuguese, but the staff and the chef were very helpful and friendly to explain what they have and explained very patiently to us what to expect and recommended us to try certain plates. Garlic shrimps, soup with coriander and bread ( egg on top), fried cuttlefish with chips, clams in garlic sauce, Bacalhau.“

“Went here for 3 days out of 4 on my trip to Faro. The only reason I didn’t on my last day is because my flight took off before they opened. Amazing sandwich for great value, and the hot sauce that comes with is divine! A real hidden gem on the corner of a street. Highly recommended.“

“Even if no English is spoken, you will be understood. The service is great, friendly and helpful.
The little one got a piri-piri chicken without piri.
And we adults could taste the delicious spiciness.
Yes, there is only fried chicken, fries and delicious rice. Plus a good house wine and a large beer.
We arrived late, sat in the seat and were happily served.
Everything is very authentic and delicious.
A meal that makes you happy.“

“First of all, clarify that the owner closed the old restaurant (because it was a lot of work) and
He opened a takeaway on the upper floor of the shopping arcade that hides next to the old establishment. Despite being take away, there are half a dozen tables to serve those who want to eat on the terrace. The cuisine is superior, we tried the excellent squid with mustard (lulas a la mostarda), a feixoada with seafood, and a spectacular rice with sweetbreads and shrimp. And baked sheep's cheese.
And the dish of the day was already gone at 11 in the morning. Real Portuguese food, with flavors from the Spice Empire. Very brave.“

“I recently had the pleasure of dining at Restaurante Malveiro in Almancil, and it was an unforgettable experience! The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the prawns from Mozambique. These prawns were incredibly fresh and flavorful, cooked to absolute perfection.
The prawn curry, which came highly recommended, was nothing short of spectacular. The rich and aromatic sauce, combined with the succulent prawns, created a symphony of flavors that stood out.
The warm and inviting atmosphere of this family-owned restaurant, along with the exceptional hospitality provided by Leonel, made the experience even more special. From start to finish, every moment at Restaurante Malveiro showed their dedication to quality and customer satisfaction. If you're in the Algarve, this gem is a must-visit!“

“The very typical front of this restaurant made us want it.
We were happy to stop there because it was a real delight.
The restaurant is clean! Homemade cooking!! The dishes are typically Portuguese and are really delicious and hearty.
The waiter is very pleasant and he speaks French and English without problem.
I sincerely recommend it if you want to live the Portuguese experience to the end.“
“I was really looking forward to eating here! Sadly they had a few things missing from the menu and they never told us beforehand! The cheese plate and the veggie stew were both missing, which is what my parents were going for! They chose the risotto in the end, but somehow they only made one so they asked them to share until they made the other one (20-30 mins more, we were all finished by then). Didn't offer anything to compensate for the mistake. On top of that, you also couldn't really taste the butternut squash in the risotto. The wait time was also really long, over an hour. Hence, I will rate the service as disappointing, however the food was really cook especially their fake fish (tofu)! It's wrapped in multiple layers of seaweed and tastes lovely and healthy! Would've been nice to have a brown rice option though! We also ordered croquettes with vegan cashew cheese, which were amazing, my dad (big meat eater) absolutely loved them! Atmosphere was nice with candles in the toilet and small lights around the room, however, we found there was not plenty of space between the tables. Also outdoor seating would've been nice, but the location doesn't allow for that. Overall good place, but disappointed about the service.“

“Excellent place to remember a little of our land Venezuela! The staff is really attentive, they are very helpful and friendly, the food is the icing on the cake, it is PERFECT, the cachapa was exquisite for a moment I thought I was really in my country, and the empanadas another level!
Seriously, if you have the opportunity, don't hesitate to come, it is a very cozy and pleasant place!!

“I had lunch at O Champarro in Faro and it was incredible! The staff made me feel at home from the first moment. The chef and owner, David, is extremely kind and attentive, ensuring a perfect experience.
The food is delicious and, at just €10, includes the dish, dessert and coffee. I tried the cod a brace which was really good, but I will definitely be back to try all the other specialties. I highly recommend it and will come back whenever I'm in Faro. An unmissable place!

“Our party of 4 visited on a Friday night in the height of summer at 8pm with no reservation. The restaurant was extremely busy, including a large birthday party group, but the staff found us a table and were very welcoming. The menu had something for everyone and was a different offering from most other restaurants on the ilha. I had the black risotto with scallops, which was perfect in every way. Two others in our group had seabass, which was overcooked and dry, unfortunately, and the fourth member of our group (gluten free) had chicken, which came with chips and salad and looked very appealing. We also had bread, olives, carrots, a 2 litre jug of sparkling sangria (red berries), a large beer, and a delicious 'real' lemonade and the bill came to EUR 108. Considering the location, the attentiveness of the staff, the restaurant surroundings, the ease of parking on this very busy ilha and the quality of the food and drink, I felt this was value for money.
Dietary restrictions: Gluten-free
Parking: The restaurant is far enough down the ilha that parking is easier than nearer the bridge. We visited in the evening so beach goers were leaving and the ilha was emptying out a bit.
Wheelchair accessibility: Level from car park into restaurant.“

“This restaurant is really worth the detour, the ocean opposite the owners, a brother, a sister, both great servers also the kitchen very good attention. Be aware that in this restaurant you have some of the fish that come from the fishponds but they have a display of quality fresh fish caught at sea which is necessarily a little more expensive, but of very good quality, and there this restaurant will not let you make no mistake in the quality of the products I highly recommend this restaurant“

“Very good, very cheap. As a solo English speaker I came in and sat down, the lady said ‘chicken?’, I said yes and 5 minutes later I had half a chicken with rice and chips in front of me. With a beer and chocolate mousse it worked out to €12.50… what more could you want!“

“This was by far one of the best places i’ve been to. The service was great and very friendly, the owner was very polite and absolutely accommodating plus the ambiente and the place, where the restaurant is, was perfect for a good end of the day. The food was good and we didn’t have to wait long. They offered Tequeños (a venezuelan dish) and the food was amazing, it took me back to my childhood back in Venezuela. 10/10, i absolutely recommend this place!“

“Ik vind 5 sterren eigenlijk te weinig. Je kan deze plek vinden in het oude deel van faro. De muziek maakt de sfeer en het eten is heerlijk. Het personeel is vriendelijk en gastvrij ‘easy-going’. “Amazing food and excellent. Traditional bread was excellent better than the ones we had in actual Madeira. Lots of traditional options- fish, meat and veggie. As a fussy vegetarian it was great to find a lovely veggie kebab option. We visited twice during our stay it was so nice. The waiter was really friendly and informative. We'd definitely visit again.
Vegetarian options: Veggie kebab with roasted vegetables“

“Tempted by the reviews on Google Maps, we decided to have dinner here this time. We were hungry around 4 p.m., when most restaurants were closed, so that's where we headed. The place is very inconspicuous and if you don't know the exact location you can miss it. Interestingly, we found information on the door that it was closed, but we decided to go in and, to our surprise, we found a group of people eating there and one person eating separately, as it later turned out, the owner. Unsure, we sat down at a free table. Nobody asked us to sit down or leave. Only after some time, the owner, sipping wine, informed us that he would serve us as soon as he finished dinner. After about 10 minutes, we ordered a grilled set of meats and also grilled sea bream. We received the ordered dishes after about 25 minutes. The food was really very good, well seasoned and, most importantly, freshly prepared. Out of the corner of my eye, I watched the cook prepare our dishes. The owner was very idiosyncratic, we didn't really like his rude jokes. Well, the overall assessment is positive. The food was great, the restaurant was small but atmospheric. Prices very good. We can recommend it ?“

“What a wonderful meal we had! We hadn’t been to O Tanque for some time but we’ll certainly be back very soon. The couvert is amazing. They come round with a big tray and you can choose what to have. The baby squid starter is divine. Best in the Algarve in my opinion. We shared a large robalo for main. Cooked beautifully with amazing fresh veg and tiny new potatoes that were delicious. We hadn’t got room for pudding but at the end of our meal. Little sweet treats were presented along with white and ruby port that was left on the table (John had a second glass it was so nice) Reasonable price. Lovely staff. We’ll definitely be back. Thank you“
