I am a permanent resident in the Algarve living quite close to this restaurant I had a family of three visiting me from Canada dear friends for many years. It was their first time to Portugal and Dec 6th was their last night here. I chose this restaurant based on recommendations made directly to me. It was my first encounter with this restaurant. The service was fine. The food seemed fine too. The total bill came to €222 : see photo Later that night and all throughout the 7th early morning, two of my dear friends were violently and repeatedly vomiting. They had both eaten the same food at the restaurant. I wrote to the restaurant owner-operators who had hosted our dinner on the 6th advising both of them (husband and wife) of this terrible event and still today I have had no response from them. Very disappointing!! I won’t ever return and I won’t be saying anything positive by word of mouth. For certain, the restaurant owners must have received my feedback because I sent it to them by SMS on Dec 7th to the very same mobile number I had used to verbally make the reservation booking. My SMS text was confirmed as delivered. But never replied to. This truly surprised me because such an incident can be very damaging to a restaurant’s reputation.

The food is out of this world. A symphony for the tongue. The home smoked salmon (sat near the smoker!) would grace the table of any restaurant in London. Sat outside in the sun with a beautiful bottle of local white wine…..doesn’t really get any better. Highly recommended.

Vandaag heerlijk geluncht bij Le Marquis! Ontzettend mooie relaxte omgeving.Hele gastvrije, spontane eigenaresse en haar man is een topchef! Absoluut een aanrader!Wij komen zeker nog eens terug! Dank je wel?Groetjes Nens

Saturday night in early June and the place only had 20 covers (25%) . It was a warm evening so sitting out was fine in the lovely outdoor area and once we were seated the owner ignored us completely whilst jabbering away to the next table , one of whom was wearing a baseball cap throughout service. The food was well presented with not much choice for vegetarians and the portion size for the mains was small. Three of us had the pork ribs acompanied with and incredibly small portion of potato bravas. My coffee creme brulle had a base which resembled instant whip not custard . My first two choices from the wine list were unavailable and tap water at 3•5€ a pop is a bit much. The place needs to do better if it wants to recapture the old "French Restaurant" that used to occupy the same site

We enjoyed an excellent Easter Sunday lunch at this Dutch owned and managed restaurant, which has a delightful setting in the picturesque countryside in the hills near St Luke's Church and just a short distance from St Barbara de Nexe, Whenever we have been to this restaurant, we have enjoyed a great welcome from Helma and gastronomic excellence courtesy of Chef Vincent. Always a high standard at this restaurant and the Easter Sunday lunch was very special indeed, this time with the added ingredient of music in the sunshine. We will return very soon and we highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a fabulous meal at Le Marquis. Every course was delicious and the service was excellent.The entire experience was lovely and we would highly recommend this restaurant, especially for a special occasion.

We visited the Le Marquis restaurant for lunch on Thursday. The setting was very traditional, with beautiful laid tables and we were greeted with a warm welcome. The menu was a three course set menu with lots of choice, fish cakes with a chilli sauce, fillet steak with Rosti potatoes, winter veg and a mushroom sauce, all extremely tasty and very well executed. I ended with a cheese terrine that was really nice. We all choose different, venison, rack of lamb followed by apple strudel and hot chocolate pudding. The service was excellent, we would definitely recommend and look forward to our next visit Thanks Le Marquis
