Very good, very cheap. As a solo English speaker I came in and sat down, the lady said ‘chicken?’, I said yes and 5 minutes later I had half a chicken with rice and chips in front of me. With a beer and chocolate mousse it worked out to €12.50… what more could you want!

The chicken was tender, coated in a Piri-Piri chilli oil. The skin had a nice char with a subtle smokiness penetrating the crust. There was extra chilli oil on the side, which had a mild-medium spice. The chips were freshly homemade, with a deep potato flavour and a crispy, oily crust. The rice was, too, homemade, with flavours of olive oil, onion and carrot. The olives were tender and juicy. The bread, known as ‘pao Alantejano’, is a traditional sourdough from the Alantejo cuisine in Portugal. It was a perfect accompaniment with the oily flavours.

My favorite restaurant in Faro, a local vibe, no no sense, just great food and great prices, Try the mix grill, you can taste a bit of everything, and the chicken is from heaven. We ate there, a full dinner for two with 1/2 Liter wine and we paid just 23 euros.
