Passing through the area, Broa de Mel was a pleasant surprise. The food was super good and the staff were very attentive and helpful. They serve individual doses and it tastes great. The Bacalhau à Brás was very good, freshly made, as was the oven-roasted Bacalhau. Very good quality price. I recommend it and I will be back!

After touring Fatima, I was looking for a quick place to have lunch. it's slim pickings in the area and I went to the Apollo Caffe but the wait staff was aloof, disinterested and unhelpful when I passed by so I kept walking. One of the wait staff came out to speak to me, explaining the menu in his very good English. I wanted something very Portuguese and chose the bacalhau a bras, shredded codfish mixed with potatoes and egg. I love all three things so why not? The service was prompt, I barely waited 5 minutes for my food before I was served. It was a good, quick meal, not salty or heavy on spices. When I paid, the gentleman behind the counter asked if everything was fine, to which I replied, "Yes!" and it was.
