In a street in Ferragudo, an incredible dinner on a summer night in August. An excellent octopus salad for starters, well seasoned as expected. Fantastic kebab of properly grilled squid and shrimp accompanied by fries and a generous salad. Very good black pork kebab. The walnut pie for dessert was not appealing. The service is affable, friendly and very efficient. Velho Novo has a new customer here who hopes to become old by returning and recommending.

A small quaint restaurant, service was great, very personable, friendly and we had a good laugh with the waiter. We were a party of seven with two children (9 & 11). The food was amazing, really very good, there is not a kids menu but they were happy with the options and had chicken kebab with chips and steak kebab with chips. We also had monkfish kebabs and a mixed steak kebab and Portuguese style squid.
Wheelchair accessibility: It is on the ground floor but not a huge amount of space inside, they do have some outside seating though, if you phone ahead I am sure they will accommodate a wheelchair as they were very friendly and helpful

Restaurant overlooking a small street with around ten tables outside. Better to reserve because the queue grows quickly. The food was excellent. I had the grilled squid and shrimp kebab skewer. Finally grilled seafood and not boiled or baked! It was excellent, one of the best restaurants I ate in in Portugal. My partner had the clam plate and the octopus salad starter which was equally delicious. The portions are generous, the wine is good. Having eaten at Borda do Cais which is not too far away and which charges exorbitant prices while touting their catch of the day, I found that the food was much better in this small, unpretentious restaurant. 1 starter, 2 main courses, 1 bottle of wine, 1 cocktail, 3 large beers and water for 82 Eu.

If you’re looking for genuine traditional Portuguese food with excellent service and hospitality, this is a great choice. The staff are engaged and generous, the food warming and well cooked and the atmosphere authentic. We were offered port wine on the house as ending, both a pleasant surprise and very well rounded tasted. Five well deserved stars.
