It's one of the best places in Figueira to visit, with great, homemade food. The place attracts a diverse mix of locals and visitors. Pedro the owner is incredibly passionate about food and offers a very welcoming space to hang out in.
Gato Preto is a must go! My wife and I live in PT and consider this one of the best hole-in-the-wall small plates/ tapas style tascos anywhere in Portugal. Serving classic Portuguese food, the owner does it all, and does a great job of making you feel welcome. Very local spot. Owner used to work at two different Michelin star restaurants, and he brings the caliber of food here in a laid back spot. Went for lunch and can’t wait to go back. Get the snails, fish soup, bifana, and mustard glaze wings! Muito obrigado.
Little place but BIG flavored eats. In the USA we refer to small places like this as "a hole in the wall" which almost ALWAYS have THE best food. His menu is limited but extremely tasty. Our favorite goto for wonderful sandwiches. Thursday is crispy pork belly Sammy's. OMG love it. Everyday he has a marinated bifana. Juicey with tons of flavor. HIGHLY recommend but leave 2 for me!!!
The best place to eat I visited during whole 2weeks stay in different cities in Portugal. Super tasty bifana, all home made.
My boyfriend and I were looking for some late lunch when we caught this wonderful smell coming round the corner and that's when we found this absolute gem. When we first went in, it seemed like there were only a couple options on offer and we were unsure what to order. That's when the owner, in perfect English, sat us down with a glass of wine each and took upon himself to serve us the most brilliant food we've had during our entire stay in Portugal. We were served dish after dish in intervals spaced so perfectly to allow the previous bit of food to settle down. The atmosphere was unmatched - classic tunes coming from the boombox and locals socialising over good food in a small alleyway. Unfortunately we had a train to catch and didn't get to finish the whole course but for about €20 we had 3 glasses of wine and 5 or 6 different dishes to share. Leaving this little place felt like leaving home even if we only spent less than an hour there. We will definitely come back and until then Gato Preto will hold a special place in our hearts.
Best local experience I’ve ever been to! Very accomodating, English speaking, fantastic food with high quality products and made with love. Everything was simply delicious and we didn’t even order any food, just mentioned our allergies and then they brought out the food one plate at a time! A must-visit!

A real Portuguese TASCA. No BS just great meat sandwiches with local wines and beer. Fine diners need not apply.
the best “petiscos” place in town. Everything is delicious, traditional taste with a modern twist for the chef peixoto. Coming here it’s a cultural experience, high standard ingredients, passionate and comfort food. We highly recommend this kitchen to everyone who wants to feel what Portuguese heritage.

Amazing little restaurant with chef-owner (Pedro) who goes out of his way to please with his dishes. You feel very welcome as soon as you sit down. He does speak English for those of us who have a hard time with Portuguese. Definitely a must try!
If you want to have traditional Portuguese food served like in a 5 star restaurant and pay the cost like street food, come here. The chef/manager/owner - Pedro is super nice and humble. Meeting him and have his food, you know this person is giving you the food with his soul and love. This is someone who cook with passion, not for profit. We, a group of 4 men and women, had a great full lunch, all food chosen by the chef, the fizzy drinks (white wine mixed with soda or something) all for less than 50€. With the service, food quality and portion, I don't think you can have a treat like this in many places in the world. Highly recommended, although if you can get a table or not is a different story. The place is super small, like a table in side and 3 tables outside. It worths to check it out though. Cash only. We definitely will come back.
Brilliant restaurant really helpful young lady, so good went back. Gutted at Christmas as closed due to COVID but really hope it reopens
