High class restaurant from Rui Paula. Not sure what criteria this is missing to not have a star in the red book, but special things happen here.
Somellier is knowledgeable and engaging. Wines run the full spectrum from affordable to hilarious, and everything in between. Good selection by the glass as well including some special ones by the corovin, which is a nice way to splash out a bit without remortgaging or contacting a broker.
Beautiful view right on the river. This is the absolute definition from the guide of worth a special visit.

We had a great evening. The staff is super attentive and mostly very friendly. We thought it was a chic place, but you can also eat here if you're dressed decently ;-)
It's nice to sit by the river.
First there was bread with oil and vinegar, which tasted very tasty.
We shared a starter and were recommended veal for the main course, which tasted excellent. As a side dish there was cauliflower gratinated, which was tasty but too heavy (cream, cheese??). It was very warm and so I just wished for fresh vegetables. The salad was fresh, but the dressing was just as powerful (mayo?).
Wine selection was great.
The service is on point.
We also had a dessert with passion fruit, contrary to my expectations, it wasn't overly sweet and tasted what it was. Totally fresh, sour, surprisingly tasty and perfectly balanced.
Plus a good espresso with delicious praline. It was a great evening and we will come back.

Very good cuisine, a very beautiful setting. However, it is unacceptable that with not even 1/3 of a bottle they claim to serve you 2 glasses of wine of 180ml (at €37 per glass). We were just tourists...

Restaurant by Chef Rui Paula, located right on the banks of the Douro River, with the possibility of having a meal on the terrace. As typical of this Chef's restaurants, upon entering we immediately feel a pleasant feeling that contributes so much to the experience. The service is excellent, always attentive, professional and friendly. The food is excellent! A mandatory experience.
