Weird. Cold reception, we have the impression of disturbing the old gentleman behind the bar. You have to stop working if you don't like it anymore. However, this gentleman is polite. Endless waiting and passable results.

Everything was good, however, due to the high number of customers, service was difficult.

Today I was there to eat eel stew, we ordered 2 servings after not even 10 minutes they were serving us too little quantity for two servings, but that's not the reason cold eels weighing from just a few to 2 servings seemed very soft it was just bread and not even toasted it was, because eating an eel stew with them cold should already be exquisite, they should inform the customers of what they had, an open house to serve like that shouldn't be, I made a complaint in the house's book ? now I'm waiting for a response to the complaint. We didn't complain about the price despite the quantity for 2 servings not being what we thought was correct because if we put the pieces together there shouldn't be 4 eels and the bread ? should be toasted. But the conditions in which they were made, because if they were good they would be one thing, don't complain but both things were poorly made and not enough for 2 doses.

Affordable.
You get large portions when you eat lunch.
A coffee for two is around 5 euros.

We stayed one night in the area and were pleasantly surprised by our dinner here. The service in the restaurant was fabulous and food was delicious. FYI - they don't begin dinner service until 7 PM so even though it will show as open that is the bar area.

From the Central's café bar to its restaurant, the ambiance is warm and welcoming. Traditional and international meals are generous, wholesome and freshly prepared, from soups to roasts to pizzas, with mouthwatering daily special menus. We were an adult group of 4, over from England, staying at a family villa so had the option to prepare our own meals. After our first visit to the Central, for lunch, then dinner to make sure, we just kept returning. Soups were popular, a favourite "Juliana" vegetable soup was appreciated as the weather was foul. The grilled pork "Piano" ribs, are juicy and stacked high. An extensive international wine list is available but both the Douro wines and the local carafe wines, are exceptional. Sunday lunch was full of local family groups, from teeny-weenies to grandparents, with everyone in between - a definite seal of approval if needed. Thank you.
