Not a place I would normally visit if not google reviews:)
But I would miss a real treat. It looks and tastes like prepared with love, home food.
No big pressure on presentation.
Very pleasant service, especially by owner but not only. Cook was singing in the kitchen.
Espada was one of the better ones I ate on the island, especially with banana.
Desserts like you would get them from your grandma kitchen. If she was Portuguese;)
And the white Sangria… very dangerously good.

Restaurant, typical Portuguese. The dishes are excellent and the prices reasonable. You can go there with your eyes closed: it’s not a tourist trap.

Typical place with tasty food and noisy atmosphere, but really worth it. I’m happy that I tried my first Espada com banana there. Recommend it!!

Typical place, good and plentiful dishes, excellent quality/price ratio
Good price/performance ratio, delicious fish, large portions, but you're sitting in the basement - but it's worth it!

You have to eat here once. A very cute restaurant right next to the tourist hall where fruit is sold expensively. The entrance is very small and very inconspicuous and the first time we have experienced a restaurant in the basement on the island. It's a very large room with lots of tables. It is of course a bit noisy, but not unpleasant and actually a very typical and probably very classic restaurant experience on Madeira. The waiters and service was really very good. We were served in a friendly manner and helped us with the ingredients. We were regularly asked whether we were feeling well. The decor in the restaurant also added a feel-good factor and the pictures on the side invited you to imagine old stories from the pictures. The food is typically local, but exceptionally large portions. The fish, although cooked grilled, was very juicy and very soft. The portions were huge, so anyone who wants to really feast has come to the right place.

Restaurantji Recommends
Those restaurants where Michelin chefs come to take notes. Everything 5 stars. Limpets, sword fillets with banana and unbelievable desserts (passion fruit pudding and honey bread ice cream). A top-notch gastronomic experience.
