Worst seafood we ate in Madeira. The fish (Scabbard fish is rotten smell so bad) , but sardines is fresh. We told the waiter that the Scabbard fish is bad and rotten and take it into the kitchen to tell the chef, but they didn't say anything nor at least deduct the item. The rotten fish ruined our dinner; so we left a two stars instead of five as we usually do. WE DON'T RECOMMEND THIS PLACE UNLESS YOU ONLY COME FOR A DRINK.

Staff is nice, but points are deducted for the toilet, which is in a dilapidated condition and should really be restored. And further points deducted for the regional beef on the skewer and the fries were no longer hot. Otherwise the taste is okay.

For our last night in Funchal, we picked up a restaurant that was close to our Airbnb. We ended up by chance in A.Murahla restaurant, and got a table before the Saturday night crowd swarmed the place. My wife went for these kinds of Chinese hats shells, and salmon steak, while I chose a Portuguese specialty with pork , clams, and potatoes, the diner accompanied by a Charneco red wine at 15 € per bottle, from south Portugal. That was the best meal of the week. The food was excellent, the wine very nice, the staff super friendly, and the price was reasonable . Great place to have diner .

At first you are surprised that you are spoken to directly, but almost everyone there does that. The traditional food (meat skewer for me and tuna steak for my wife) tasted very good, the water and wine were at a good temperature and the staff was extremely friendly. We'd love to come back.
