First of all, make your reservation in advance!! We were just fortunate that the owner's daughter seated us without reservation. Great food (try the veal!!), very nice atmosphere, and wonderful, hospitable service.
Best dinner we have had yet in Portugal. The tuna was amazing. Very affordable for the quality and service.
What a wonderful evening. Food was fabulous, I had ribs and husband had the salt cod. Such a personal experience, can tell its a family run affair. One of our best meals in Portugal. Wine was superb, service great and chef entertained us after dinner at the piano! When in Tomar you must stop here.
Delicious food, excellent wines, extremely friendly services, on top speaking fEnglish fluently! Really a place to be recommended! We took the combination of tornado and tuna! Just top!
This restaurant was recommended, I booked thank goodness as it was packed. Service was excellent, we had the black pork ribs and the house cod speciality. Both delicious, the cod was a work of art and could have been in a gallery. I didn’t like the bread sauce with the ribs. We had two very nice desserts, two large beers and a glass of wine all for a very reasonable €55
A wonderful family-run restaurant where you're treated like a local even if you're from another continent. I'm so glad that I found this place.
Best restaurant in Tomar and probably one of the best in Portugal. Their stake is delicious and you can tell they only use top quality ingredients/meat. One of the most impressive aspects of Sabores ao Rubro is how they manage to keep such a high quality standard of delicious meals while also keeping a very fast turnaround time!
Book early as gets VERY busy. Nice selection of food. The shrimp and rice dish was fantastic. Nice desserts.
We had a fantastic lunch here while visiting the Tomar flower festival. It was by reservation only and the staff treated us like long lost cousins and family. Bring your appetite as there's enough food to feed an army! Lots of starters, drinks ,bread, fish and meat as well as delicious vegetarian chili or mushrooms a bris. Yum yum yum. The dishes kept coming and we kept eating. Homemade desserts as well. It's a family run restaurant with love and care. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed our delicious lunch. Staff were so kind. Thank you so much .
A fantastic find. This restaurant serves some traditional dishes with modern plating and a modern decor. Complete with some fab live piano from one of the owners!! The choco frito was very good here, as well as the couvert and porco preto. Sadly we didn't have room for dessert but we'll return!!

Came here as they had a good vegetarian dish - the vegetable gratin. It did not disappoint! So many different tasty vegetables in it. My friend had the baked cod which was also very good. The staff were very attentive….definitely recommend coming here.
What a fabulous meal. I had the filet Mignon with pepper sauce my partner had the ribs. Both delicious and followed with a moist chocolate cake, A standout meal for us in our 5 weeks in Portugal. High recommended if you are in Tomar.
Loved it. The food was very well prepared and tasted great! The staff was extremely nice and helpful. A must!
The restaurant entrance makes clear that all food is cooked to order and can take 30 mins to prepare. Delicious bread, olives and seafood pâté while we waited. 40 minutes after placing the order we asked. Again after 55. At which point it arrived but I had to go and feed the meter. The owner’s husband was very apologetic, explained the (as it turned out quite valid) reason for the delay and offered a free drink. Still, we would have made this a 3 were it not for the absolutely wonderful seafood dish that we enjoyed.
The restaurant had a voicemail message telling that after a specific moment they don't accept reserves, but they encourage you to go even if without reserve because they have a great rotation of clients. Saturday 8:00 pm. The restaurant was almost full, but we had a 4 people table. The staff was very nice and they advised us about special dishes of the day and gave us good suggestions. The food was very well cooked and very flavored (shrimp curry, mushroom "brás" and mixed omelette). We shared all the dishes and were delighted. There was not a large choice of wine - but there were good ones - at a fair price. The atmosphere was nice, nevertheless the restaurant was full. Anyway we noticed that the staff encouraged the new comers to wait and give them realistic expectations of time to wait. We were told that the chef - the mother of one of the very nice waitresses - played piano at the dinner room after the kitchen... we believe that if she plays as she cooks, she must be a very good pianist...
