Fantastic food! Really!! Nice shop, you can sit nicely in the pedestrian zone. Nicely decorated inside too. Service unfortunately subpar, ultra slow, disinterested. This place could make a fortune from food if they hired skilled and interested waiters!

We have been in Funchal for a few days, and for two days they did not want to serve us for dinner. Today we even went to the restaurant earlier to be able to have a table, and at nine o'clock they no longer wanted to serve us... It's a shame, since their opening hours say they close later. A deception for the client and the tourist, since they do not comply with the scheduled schedule. We will not try to go again, thanks again for not having us.

I would love to say that the food is delicious, but I have been trying to go to dinner for two days in a row at 9 pm, when the closing time is at 11 pm and they have not given us a table, with some available. The waiters are not known for their friendliness either.

I celebrated my birthday at Casa Mexico Funchal and had an exceptional experience. The food was amazing, offering authentic Mexican cuisine rather than the usual Tex-Mex you find elsewhere. The staff were friendly and very helpful, contributing to a delightful dining experience.
The only downside was that we couldn’t leave a tip via card. This is something the management should consider updating, as not everyone carries cash, and the excellent service definitely deserves to be tipped.

I can only recommend Casa México. Super tasty food at a reasonable price. Food was ready super quickly. The restaurant is a bit away from the hustle and bustle, which I found very pleasant. A little later in the evening there was live music playing in the area, which made the ambience even nicer.
Vegetarian options: There is a special page in the menu with vegetarian dishes.
To sum up; The service was bad, but the food was great. We had to wait at least 15 min before we got the menus, additional 15 min before we got to order and then 15 min before we got any drinks. The waiters was not very welcoming, and didnt seems to know their profession very well (speaking as a ex-waitress). We tried to call for them several times but felt ignored. We never onced recived a smile from them. We saw that other guests experieced the same. It was only two waiters, so maybe that is the reason for their slow service, but they didnt seem to try to be effective. There was not too many guests (several tables was available). The food was great, so the chefs did a good job.
