Genuine local food, made with love and talent. Cheap moreover. Do not miss such a fantastic place. Soups are more than delicious. May be packed during lunchtime. Another fact confirming it's great.

Echte verse voeding; een complete maaltijd voor een zeer schappelijke prijs. Alsof je bij je moeder thuis eet :)

The only point to point out is that the soup has a little too much salt

When we arrived, the tables were laden with dirty dishes and pigeons. We were torn between reserving our dirty table and joining the queue. Eventually, we split duties. The queuing system, not unlike the early days in the Gulag, did finally yield two outnumbered, but very lovely ladies, who dished up large helpings of chicken soup. The soup was ok. Not quite the memorable experience we had hoped for. The chicken pie was really good (and I was sad to have to share it).On the whole, I think this place needs an extra person to wait on the tables and perhaps a bit more flavour for the soup.I can't recommend it at this time, but will give it another try, perhaps once the pigeons migrate.

Been coming to Funchal for years and was fortunate enough to find the place on my first visit. Been coming back ever since as the food is excellent and prices are unbelievable.

We had vegetable soup with sourdough toast and homemade cream filled pastry and coffee with hot milk. Great hospitality, quality and taste. And all for 7 Euros! Highly recommended.

The space is small, but the food is good, the service is friendly and the prices are affordable. I highly recommend it! Good luck to the store workers!

Delicias Das Sopas: Thank you for feeding my wife and I. Food was hearty, homemade and so savoury. Glad we took this street while touring Funchal.

Delicious soups from a nice old lady. The chicken soup tastes like it was made by grandma.

Vegetarian options: There is also a vegetable soup. There were a total of four soups to choose from.
