We chose cataplana and monkfish rice to feed the four of us. So pleased they had a free table on our last night in Madeira as both dishes were delicious. Local garlic bread was so good we had to repeat. Washed down with local red.
Very practical employee,

Authentic Madeiran food which was beautifully cooked and tasted amazing. The staff were all very friendly and the service excellent. We had scabbard fish which was soft, delicate and very tasty, and also an octopus salad which was also very good. The owner recommended a bottle of wine which went very well with all of our dishes.
Well we tried this restaurant based on being nearby and the reviews on trip. So often we’ve been disappointed but not this time! The staff are warm and welcoming the atmosphere is relaxing and the food well as we read, it is amazing. Everything we ate was just delicious and home cooked by the husband and wife who run this amazing place. If you want great food and an enjoyable relaxing place to eat this is it. Save space for the homemade desserts they truly are the best! We are certainly going back for more!!
Very friendly staff who answered all of our questions and guided us around the menu. The meal itself was exactly what we wanted and reasonably priced. Good quality ingredients cooked with thought and pride.
Very good food, lovely family, lovely service. Really recommend it!! It was the first place to eat in Madeira, but an extraordinary surprise. We've tried the octopus, both options.
It is worth finding this lovely little family-run restaurant. The owners are so friendly and could not be more helpful. We had a pasta dish and a beautifully cooked Spanish Omlette. My better half loves chips and these chips were up with the best! We'll certainly return
I went to Casa Da Sogra today for dinner. I had vegetables with Scabbard Fish. It is the best so far in the Madeira Islands! I have tried in 3 other places and Casa Da Sogra made the best, portion was good size, nicely done, flavorful.

It’s always worth going off the main drag to get decent food and this place was amazing. When the homemade garlic bread arrived as a starter we knew we were in for a treat and we were not disappointed. Superbly seasoned and flavoured fish dishes all round were superb and the freshness of the fish couldn’t be denied. Topped of with perfectly good house white and above all an hospitable and friendly chef owner who knows his stuff. We are here for 2 weeks and have already booked for 2 nights time. Highly recommend
Amazing spot for excellent and authentic local seafood specialities. Go for the sharing dishes, we had the Cataplana with cod and prawns and it was fabulous. Lovely range of home made desserts too.
Very homely family restaurant. Scabbard fish was cooked beautifully. We had the Octopus rice & prawns for two. It was delightful.
Family owned restaurant. Book a table to make sure to get in and to get a table with a great view! Had 3 different seafood portions for starters and they were all great. Go for the dishes for 2 for mains, they were excellent. If you do, they are huge so starters are not necrssarily needed. Very friendly service, ended the night with drinks and the chef dropped in for a chat and gave us a tour of the house. Highly recommend!
Great traditional food. Amazing fish and wine! Good service, quiet and great view. I will recommend the Rodaballho with prawns
