We had the most wonderful dinner at Gazebo last night. We have previously been to Gazebo for private events but this was our first time going since they opened it up as a restaurant and it was just as special an experience. As always, Filipe’s food was exquisite, presentation perfect and the atmosphere intimate. Everything is sourced locally and the homemade bread was up there as some of the best I’ve ever had!

Chef Felipe personally visits each table to chat with the customers and describe the flavors of the dishes. This is a restaurant that can't be missed while you are in Madeira and there's no double that a Michelin star is in its near future.

WOW! It is hard to live up to a name like "experience" for a restaurant, but this one does, and then some.
Fairly new on the island, this is a dining "experience" not to be missed. If you are visiting make this your number one plan for a night out, if you live here schedule a special night to go to the Gazebo, you will not be disappointed.
First some housekeeping....the place is a bit hidden. Our poor taxi driver drove around the block three times before we got out and just started walking, even then, it wasn't easy. There is no large sign just a dimly lit one inside a small doorway. The key is that it is located on a one-way street, and the entrance is on the right side, the only entrance along a large gray wall. Also, the phone number is not easy to find so here it is for convenience: 351-926-531-010.
Now for the meal! It is hard to describe an "experience" of any type; thus, the saying that you must "experience" one to understand it. That could not be more true than for this restaurant. Small quaint, inside and outside dining areas attached to a grand house that one of the chef's parents still lives in. You will be impressed from the moment they buzz you in; the walk along the garden to the gazebo is beautiful and serene, the perfect setting for what is to come.
The meal itself is a choice of two tasting menus, six or nine tastings, locally focused, using fresh and local ingredients were possible. Prepared in an open kitchen which affords one the viewing of the preparation of each dish.
It meal is explained in detail to every table by one of the chefs, very informative, and interesting.
I am truly at a loss on how to describe the meal, any words I would use would be a disservice to the meal. Perfect blend of flavors, complex, yet simple to comprehend and enjoy. Each tasting was unique, not one was a disappointment. One of the finest meals I have enjoyed anywhere. It must be "experienced" to appreciate.

I could go, and on; by the end of the evening you will have been made to feel, like family. Everyone is so nice and accommodating. The intimacy of the setting only adds to the uniqueness of the evening.

This was one of the best dinner experiences in my life! The food was simply out of this world - with an amazing combination of tastes and textures, local products and wonderful presentation. The staff, especially the chef himself who explained every dish (and even gave us some cooking advice because gastronomy is all about sharing!), was so enthusiastic about the food and wine, that it created an amazing atmosphere. The gazebo itself, with lots of light, plants, flower aromas from the garden, was the perfect ornament to the culinary celebration - a true experience for all senses. Thank you!

After seeing the menu & restaurant on instagram before our holiday I knew we had to eat here for the Madeiran menu and it was the dinner I was most looking forward to …. we had such a special time here. The chef & sous chef introduced every course and our server was so lovely he really made us feel so welcome! We wanted to savour every bite but the food was so good it was hard to not rush it! The Iberian pork was genuinely the best pork we have ever had and it was really nice to have chef explain lots of the details & cooking to us, also showing us pictures of how the Madeiran cous cous was made. Thank you Gazebo for the most memorable food of our holiday (definitely in our top food experiences) and your fantastic hospitality! Book in advance or be disappointed, this is one not to miss!

This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Madeira to date! Fantastic service, beautiful and flavorful dishes, and all super unique to the island itself. One of the biggest highlights was the homemade couscous and the absolutely INSANE pork! Not to mention the banana dessert which was true heaven. Michelin star quality without the pretences. We were a rather difficult group of 10 people and they managed perfectly. Sophisticated courses prepared wonderfully with quality ingredients. Well worth the money and would cost a lot more on the continent.
Eating here was a fantastic experience. The place and garden is so pretty. Food was delicious, a real journey. The chef came out with each dish and was so welcoming and lovely. I would highly recommend this place. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

We had a wonderful experience on our last evening in Madeira. The gazebo is somewhat hidden and beautiful. We chose the vegan 6-course menu. The ambience was already convincing when we arrived. The open kitchen is an eye-catcher and you feel comfortable in the stylishly designed dining area. Also because there are only a few seats. Chef and Su Chef ?? come to each course and explain the ingredients on the plate. The food is prepared artfully and tastefully. We felt very comfortable and can highly recommend the Gazebo to anyone who values good, high-quality food.

My husband and I went for dinner last night to Gazebo Experiance in Funchal and we had one of the best dining experiences in our life !!!
