Slow and impolite. Better avoid. We left without being served. Staff is too full of themselves. Juice oranges had serious mould spots. Hope this place gets less clients in the future, usual tourist trap.

In this bar/restaurant located inside the Monte Palace Tropical Garden you can eat very well. The girl who served us was very kind and friendly, the food was pretty good and arrived quickly. We ordered hamburgers, two rare and two medium, which made them perfect. The salads and tuna sandwich were also very good. It was a great success to have stayed in this place for lunch.

This place is so cute! I loved the floor to ceiling glass walls, so the light just pours in from outside. It definitely gave a greenhouse atmosphere and the food was great for a light meal and/or refreshment. It fit in so well with the botanical garden.
It's funny that the only bad reviews this place has received are from people who were never customers and never actually experienced a visit, which makes their comment worthless and void from the start.
IGNORE the bad/false reviews from Eva Rapantova, Lukas Horky, and Sarka Hlavackova. None of their reviews provide insight on an experience there. Their claims have no standing, for their complaint is that there was no warning in advance that you need to be a garden visitor in order to be a customer (one in particular complains of there being no notice on the coffeeshop's Google page) HOWEVER, it literally states ON their Google page that customers are garden visitors only, making the complaint FALSE and misleading. Their word means nothing. I wouldn't trust their reviews. It's embarrassing that they post the review before confirming the validity of their accusations lol they blame the shop after failing to read the rules before visiting. That's not the shops fault. That's the reviewers fault.

If you want to have a coffee, you have to pay the entrance to the garden. It would like useful to put this information on google. Most of the people doesn´t check your website.
Ordered a turkey sandwich here for lunch and really loved it. Super delicious food. The price was okay too.

One of the best places we have been for a quick snack. We had both breakfast and lunch.
Cold press coffee is amazing, sandwiches are delicious, and pasteis very good :) can't miss it !

Even though it’s not written anywhere, café is part of garden and you have to pay 15€/person to get in there. We found out after driving crazy steep hill from Funchal centre.
Don’t make the same mistake and if you do, go to the Land Café right next to the garden.

Nobody will tell you before, that you need to pay entrance to garden, if you would like to have a coffee!! Entrance is 15 euros per person.
So we drive up the hill just to see the roastery and the person on the entrance just said: no coffee to go, that's your fault if you don't have ticket to garden.
The most funny fact is that the coffee place was empty and we just wanted to support them.

Rest after this visit is necessary and around a glass of 10-year-old Madeira and pastry.... with a view of the garden, in the company of the birds. Beautiful Teresa, pleasant service. A relaxing moment.

Only accessible if you go to Monte Palace. Tuna sandwich was very tasty. Service said it would take about 15 minutes before the food would be on the table, in reality it took 45 minutes because there was a large group in front of us.
