Update August 2023. The restaurant no longer exists here.Jazz is a good place to eat. The service was good, the food was great. Flambéing the Crema Catalan didn't work, but that was lost in the otherwise good impression. Not my first choice in Funchal, but a good address.
We head to house of jazz for dinner and violin jazz. Booked the table as we were passing through the place. The food is very good. The available menu for the evening was limited but all was super tasty and very well cooked. We had avocato salade, wonderful flambé prawns and espadada with bechamel cheese and pimentão. At end a home made cake with ice cream. Violin jazz with Andrey was delightful for our hears and great ambiance. Chef Alex join for some singing with warm smooth...
We visited last Wednesday evening and we had a fabulous time. I would highly recommend the Scabbard with banana. You need to book in advance as the chef, Alex, orders the food in fresh.the violinist Andre, is a top professional as is the ? guitarist Robin. At the end of the evening, Alex joined them and his vocals were surprisingly wonderful. An evening full of fabulous surprises. Alex's partner, Natasha, was a charming hostess. This place is a must, when you visit Funchal.
