Our first time in Madeira, and we chose this eatery based on the reviews. What a friendly restaurant, wonderfully relaxed and the food was delicious. Her staff is extremely friendly. They really give you the feeling that you are seen in a positive way.

Despite the excellent reviews, I must say that this restaurant is definitely in the average. The waitresses are kind and the location is the typical one you expect from a restaurant in Funchal.
Anyhow the food is definitely not at the top: the shell fish soup was flavourless, the octopus quite chewy.

Food was nice but the staff was quite rude towards customers at other tables. A waiter even called other customers “stupid people” behind their back when they asked when the food would be ready. The wait was very long even though the restaurant was far from full.
Update with reply to owner: I am very sorry that your staff is not being truthful to you. The other table were sat right behind us and had been waiting for quite a while when they asked about the wait time. We did NOT ask the waiter about the situation. Instead the waiter very loudly proclaimed to us how stupid he thought the other customers were being - all while we sat uncomfortably and listened to his rant. I seriously doubt the other customer apologised due to how unprofessional, nasty and aggressive your waiter acted. If such a small criticism can cause such an aggressive response, maybe a certain someone should not be in the service industry. Good luck with him in the future!

Excellent restaurant, from the welcome to the friendly attention at the time of the bill. Congratulations, for several evenings we have been eating as a family in the Lido district and it is the best Portuguese restaurant we have discovered. The cooked fish and shellfish dish to share for two is exceptional, very good value for money. An address that we recommend.

Place to be if you like fish. Can only echo all comments already made. Fresh fish, high quality. Reservation is needed, we enter the restaurant at 19u . Good table, at 20 if was compleet full.

The Marisqueira Splendida restaurant in Madeira is fantastic! The seafood platter for two was first class, and the service was mostly impeccable. The ambience is pleasant, although a little loud at times. Still a great dining experience!

The best food and experience we have had in Madeira.
The service is absolutely (almost absurdly ;)) outstanding! Also child friendly, and supporting all sorts of needs. Wow, and huge thank you!
The food was fresh and delicious! AMAZING octopus and squid, these are really difficult to prepare, but here, both in the spaghetti, the fish combo these were absolutely perfect, and the octopus dish was absolutely fabulous (by far the best octopus I have ever had).
The fish combo came with 2 sauces, but the fish was so delicious and perfectly made that it did not need any sauce at all.
The desserts were delicious as well (personally I recommend the passion fruit pudding, which was outstanding).
We have ended up eating at Splendida 3 times during our 2 week stay, and they have delivered amazing food and outstanding service every single time! Highly recommend! :)
Dietary restrictions: All the wishes were supported and the stuff was able to answer questions how are the dishes made and what do they contain.
Kid-friendliness: The service was absolutely outstanding also towards my 7-year old son, he received some special meal that was not even in the menu and got to meet the chef.

For my subjective opinion it is the best restaurant in Madeira!!! We were in the majority restaurants in the island, and this has a higher level of service! Firstly, they have such tasty dishes, seafood, pastas and lot varieties of fishes! Secondly, they have a real higher atmosphere with friendly and helpful workers! The waiters help and support each other and interesting about our moods and expectations every time! This a restaurant which you can really enjoy and want to come back!
