If you like tourist areas this is fine, if you don't, I wouldn't advise going out of your way to visit this or any other place in Funchal.If you are knocking about the area then this is a quieter side with outdoor seating, friendly staff (seemed under pressure though)Food was nice, order didn't come exactly as asked but that had more to do with me and my accent not being clear enough - need to remember when traveling that the people you are speaking too may not...
We came across this small bakery by chance, which is relatively inconspicuous in the west of Funchal. The understated facade hides some tasty treats! The passion fruit cheesecake is highly recommended - passion fruit pastries are a regional specialty. All cakes are baked on site and taste really great! The staff is very friendly and card and cash payments are possible without any problems. Definitely more than worth a visit.
Went here twice. 1st time, 2 young members of staff, covering everything and good interaction. 2nd time 4 older members of staff on duty and everything was an inconvenience. Basically we were blanked by the staff. So we left. The coffee and pastel de nata was very nice on the first visit, and a credit to the staff. But unlikely to go again. If I was passing, I would only bother if I could see which staff were on.
