Simple but high quality cuisine, very friendly staff and low prices, nothing should be changed.

Very nice atmosphere, delicious and inexpensive food with dessert. Normal prices, not very cheap but not expensive either. Waiter very nice.

Good place. Good cooking. Quite professional. Not expensive. The second time I was there I was served the Maderan skewer of beef, a local specialty, but it was very hard and undercooked (they don't ask for the desired degree of cooking) to be cut with a dull knife.

Based on the great reviews we tried Ca Te Espero but were disappointed. Although the service was quick and prices reasonable, the staff were unsmiling and perfunctory. The cheese and sausage sharing board was basic, like something left over from continental breakfast.
However the biggest downside was the menu fails to tell you that mains come with no vegetables. No fries, no sauce, not even a sprig of salad garnish. The waiter inquired if we wanted extra sides, something we normally decline, but we ordered one and glad we did when the mains arrived and this was all there was.
My wife was disappointed and I have to say we won't return. Be prepared

I recommend this restaurant because the quantities are there and the dishes are succulent, I recommend the chef's octopus which I really liked. We went there twice during our stay. The staff is very friendly .

we wanted to try something near our accommodation. we came across this nice restaurant, with a wide selection of local dishes. I can recommend the chef's tip - octopus. the environment could be a little cleaner.

The skin is deceiving when you arrive, but go up the stairs and choose where you want to sit, either in the cozy garden or in the rustic restaurant. Many locals eat here and we were actually recommended the place by a local lady, with a small dog we just should clap, she also said that there were reasonable prices. We have eaten there 5 times and have been super satisfied.. Grilled tuna steak and salmon are our favourites, of course with a delicious Bolo du cago first AND you get some olives, they are the best olives we have ever tasted (the waiter himself makes one cook I just got the recipe for)...Look forward to eating here.?
