I enjoyed the most amazing Special Steak Sandwich lunch. Best ever! No fat on the steak, had a slice of cheese, ham and an egg in it with salad. Toasted to perfection. Well done! Also the cappuccino was lovely too xx thanks

I was assured by the company arranging a tour of Madeira, that lunch at Cachalote Restaurant would be a wonderful experience, even for a vegetarian. I was given a plate of poorly cooked (boiled) spaghetti that had no taste whatsoever. I was part of a group of about 50 tourists, three of whom were vegetarians at my table, returned their spaghetti as did I. At least one other person returned their spaghetti as I I saw the full plate on the waiter's arm as he took other empty plates back to the kitchen. I asked for tabasco - the waiting staff said they had none. I asked if they might heat some tomato pasta sauce and again the waiting staff said they had none! I had nothing to eat as a consequence as the staff seemed entirely uncaring as a result. I feel vegetarians should be aware of the limitation of this restaurant's ability to cater for them and the level of sympathy/empaty they h=can expect from the restaurant staff.

Completly awefull service, servers are incredibly arrogant and refused to sit us. We even had to wait 15 mins for someone to come talk to us in the first place, wont recommend it to anyone.

Nothing to complain about. Great and savoury dishes. Walk a little bit further for the farthest table just at the waterfront. Make sure you don't miss it !!!

We celebrated our daughter's wedding at the Cachalote and we were amazed by the food being served. Even for big eaters it was too much and for the Gourmets among us it was a delight. Very nice and attentive team. The scenerie is behind compare as the resto is built into the ocean.

Rate this a zero, awful arrogant service. Walked out after 45mins waiting for our lunch that didn’t arrive. We spoke front of house who just shrugged his shoulders. Avoid.
Stopped for lunch as a part of a private Island tour. Wished we had asked our guide to stop at many of the local cafes on route. They should stop using this restaurant. Food was bland, pork was undercooked. Service was slow. The whole thing was over priced. The only nice thing was view of the sea but was not worth the price.

Well worth the drive from Funchal to this restaurant in Porto Moniz. The seafood here is outstanding. The views from the restaurant are stunning. The staff are very friendly and the service is excellent too. We booked a table in advance which turned out to be a good idea as it was very busy at lunch time.

A great restaurant with amazing food! The dishes are very well served, good portion sizes and very tasty. Not your usual tourist stop, the food is genuine & worth it. Sit right on top of the water with fantastic views!!!

Service is correct but loveless, food is average at best but on average - it’s worst, the view is lovely even though the windows need cleaning. A tourist trap like so many others, sadly.
