A genuinely incredible dining experience.

Chef Robert has done something very special here. The combination of ingenuity of recipes, local produce and flawless presentation lived up to the expectations and beyond.

Every aspect of our experience at Desarma was perfect. My husband and I had the honour of dining at the chef's table, which was so special, and thus bore witness to the ballet that takes place in the kitchen. Each encounter we had with a member of the team was memorable. We were treated with kindness, and their attention to detail was superb. It was a privilege to meet each and every one. Now...to the food. Sublime is the only adjective that comes to mind. Each moment, from the amuse to the dessert, was delicious, creative, and memorable. We will be thinking about this meal until we can return again. Thank you for making our 16th wedding anniversary so remarkable.

We often celebrate our birthdays by dining at the finest restaurants. We celebrated this year at Disarma and we were blown away. The service is above and beyond. My husband mentioned that we had dined at Windows on the World 25 years ago. To celebrate that the Sommelier brought us Madeira wine from that year! It was incredible. Definitely do the chef’s tasting, sit by the window, do the wine pairing and ENJOY and SAVOUR every moment and morsel! We left with the most delicious chocolates and their special salt and an invitation to return. If you have the means and opportunity do not miss out.

Dietary restrictions: They asked in advance if we had any dietary restrictions. We noticed them mentioning to the table next to us how they had accommodated their dietary needs.

One of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had.
We have been to several Michelin star restaurants and this was one of the better ones. From the food to the service to the ambience, everything was excellent. They tried very hard to make it a special evening and succeeded.

I can honestly say this was one of the best dining experiences I’ve ever had. From being met in the foyer, whisked up in the lift to the restaurant, having a chefs table seat, greeted by Alex the manager and the great staff, chatting with the chefs as they worked, especially Robert the Head Chef, Joao the sommelier who provided excellent and interesting wines for each course to the food itself, everything was paced perfection. The food is carefully prepared with quite a lot of nose -tail/ zero waste ideas. In 12 'moments' there were subtle nods to Madeira and Portugal to make you smile, the food’s fun but delightful and speaks for itself - no over fancy presentation here. I can see how it was awarded a Michelin Star so soon. I even had a quick tour of the kitchen which was extremely kind of everyone.

An absolutely fantastic dining experience: thank you so much Desmara, I will definitely be back.

In a word, STUNNING.
Fantastic venue and views from the restaurant over Funchal.
Greeted by staff who take you up to the restaurant and then you are shown the kitchen and then seated by two staff.
Service can make or break a restaurant, this is outstanding service but friendliness is present, not arrogance.

We had one of our best experiences to date. The food was uniquely delicious, just as we had hoped. We highly recommend the wine pairing, which features local specialties unlike anything we've had before. However, what truly made the evening unforgettable was the exceptional service and team. Special thanks to our sommelier João, as well as Nélio, Alexander and Emma (we hope we spelled those correctly!) for making our evening so special.

Honestly... The food was very underwhelming. At this price point you would expect the food to shine. The star of the meal was the bread. My wife and I love tasting menus, but this one left a lot to be desired. The service was good and the servers very friendly. They have a beautiful dining room, but the layout does not take advantage of the wonderful views. One person is always turning away from the table to enjoy the view. I would not recommend, save your euros there are much better options in town.
