Restaurante O Velhinho offers a great scabbardfish dish at a lower price than other nearby restaurants. The squid portion was generous, and the atmosphere near the street and cable car is pleasant, with a nice terrace and a good quality-price balance. Guests can enjoy delicious fish and excellent wine options. The staff and chef are attentive, catering to special dietary needs like gluten intolerance, making it a highly recommended dining spot with great value for money. We ate the Regional Espetada there; it was a delight. The passion fruit mousse is super special, and the price is good. Right in the historic center of Funchal, the atmosphere and service are super pleasant. The asparagus risotto with mushrooms is the best ever eaten. The special menu with 5 courses is a very great offer, and it is also vegetarian, which is not always easy to find in Funchal. Food Espetada, steak, tuna with side dishes and grilled vegetables are excellent, with large portions and great beer. The staff is very accommodating and funny.
