This place was recommended by a food tour guide and she was spot on with the recommendation (ty Mara). This restaurant provides a good reprieve from usual traditional Portuguese restaurants. The steak was so flavourful and cooked to perfection. We ordered half doses of the sides dishes migas and bean rice and they were huge!!! We were so glad we didn't get a full order. For 3 people we had the steak and codfish and 2 half doses of side dish and we still had lots of leftovers, definitely worth the price.

Confirming other's comments, food superb, value amazing, staff and ambience very good. Food is mostly meat though the side dishes are meals in themselves. For obvious reasons, this place is popular, mainly with locals as it is a little out of the centre. If you dont book, get there early on a quiet night or you will be disappointed (as clearly some reviewers have been!)

Our accomodation location meant we passed this restaurant every time we walked in or back from the centre. Intrigued we ate here on our last night. We had seen it was often full so arrived at opening time to make sure. Having read a review I requested the Posta à Mirandesa (steak) but was told they did not have it, only the smaller cut of the same. Good job, although it was delicious I could barely eat it all! We also had migas (shredded cabbage, croutons and beans) which we loved. The only fish on the menu was baccalau which we arent too keen on so my wife had pork strips. These were very good in my view though my wife found them a little too rich. A bottle of very nice house red was 9€! Capped off by the home desert, a plain looking desert in a plastic cup that was absolutely superb. Easily the best meal we had while in Madeira and the staff and ambience could hardly have been better.

Small restaurant with very good food. You should know that for some meat dishes (Tbones for example) you have to reserve up to 24 hours before. It reduces the choice on the menu. It would be nice to make it more visible on the site. Very good meat and well fried potatoes! Polpo very good. I put 4 stars because I was disappointed not to be able to order the meat I wanted.

An excellent restaurant in the center of Funchal. Good service, impeccable food and good atmosphere. I recommend!Above average prices, but "normal" due to the location.
One of my favorite spots!The octopus was great, I tried it for takeaway and ended up eating it in two meals, it was a lot.Then I diner in and had some meat. It was even better! I'm definitely coming back when I'll be again in Madeira!
