Soulless dining experience with average food, bright lights and carpets - what you’d expect from a big ‘package’ hotel.

It is one of the BEST restaurants on the island. I enjoyed it many times when I was visiting and staying at the Cliff Hotel (see my review of the hotel), and we always enjoyed the food. Now that I am a resident, we still enjoy going back. For a reasonable price of 49 Euros, they offer a set menu that changes daily. Check the Cliff website for the daily choices before making a reservation. This comprehensive meal includes a starter, main course, and dessert. Considering the quality of the food, it's a great deal. The hotel boasts a two-star Michelin restaurant upstairs, a testament to the exceptional food quality.Beyond the food, the service is of the utmost quality. The staff is very attentive and will always make you feel special.I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

I had a great time visiting the Rose Garden in Funchal. The atmosphere was beautiful with live music and a view towards the ocean. When it comes to the choice of meals - there is something for everyone. Each meal is prepared with a personal adaptation from the chef. Last but not least, the dessert Crêpes Suzette was prepared in front of us by the table, which was quite impressive and I would definitely not try it at home. I would however order this dessert in the Rose Garden again.

One of the restaurants in The Cliff Bay Hotel. There is the opportunity to sit outside either under cover or not, but in the garden of the hotel looking out to sea. It is a very nice setting. The service is very efficient and friendly. The food is leaning more toward finer dining (so smaller amounts with presentation perhaps rather quantity being more of the emphasis) and is probably a little over the average price. But is it good quality in nice surroundings/atmosphere.........hence we will go back whilst in Funchal.
Pre covid the Rose Garden was a buffet restaurant that was best avoided unless you are fans of food scrambles. After covid the concept was changed and they tentatively went forward as à la carte . So very pleased to say that it is now emerging as a very good restaurant with excellent food. The menu has expanded from the very limited initial start up offering and changes on a daily basis. The staff are very attentive without being overbearing and we enjoyed our three visits and will certainly patronise again if we are looking for a good meal in pleasant surroundings .
This was the first time we visited the rose garden this year.we had a very good meal
Very pleasant evening the garden room. Food was excellent and service superb.
The Rose Garden is situated in the Cliff Bay Hotel where we were staying on a bed and breakfast basis, and we decided to try it one evening. The food is of a very high quality and beautifully presented, and so much better than the buffet style meals that were served in the past. Service was also very good. We chose a table overlooking the gardens and the setting is quite magical and very relaxing. Overall a vey enjoyable experience.
Very scenic and reasonably priced bar with very friendly and helpful bar staff. Would recommend to anyone visiting Madeira
The staff truly made our dining experience great. Food was very good as we each enjoyed every course and preparation . The “ vista” remarkable ( and we’d been staying 2 streets down slope for prior 3 days. We debated between both restaurants on the Pinheiro Estates ( same owner) , we know you won’t be disappointed at either. Next trip - we will return and guarantee to reserve time for golf. ( breathtaking course)

We went here for breakfast and dinner in May 2022 ( I think) to celebrate a birthday at the hotel. Waiter service at tinner was fabulous and the variety of food on display was fantastic - different each day. At dinner the waiter showed us to our tables and took our wine order and then we went and chose our dinner items. At breakfast, also waiter service, we chose our own tables, either in the restaurant or the conservatory,, or even outside as we wished. It was a lovely location and the views wer second to none. We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel and it was very relaxing.
Very tasty food. Choice of menu, three courses. Very nice service

Wonderful food in a beautiful setting. Service excellent
Have never had an issue with the breakfast buffet. However past experience of the evening offering was that it was busy, noisy and a bit of bun fight! Delighted to see that the format has changed to a well run table service in a more relaxed atmosphere. Staff are pleasant and professional. The menu offerings were varied and the quality and presentation of our choices were very good indeed. No hesitation in returning.
Another most enjoyable experience. All of the staff are so welcoming and good. Lovely food which is well presented. All round the restaurant is a credit to the Cliff Bay Hotel.
