I ordered a tangerine punch and it reeked of vodka. I went to talk to the staff and only then did they tell me that they make these "ponchas" with vodka.
Now what I ordered was a poncha, and the poncha recipe is with sugar cane spirit. If I wanted a tangerine vodka I wouldn't need to come to Madeira.
I hadn't even touched the tangerine vodka they served me when I discovered it had vodka, and they didn't even offer to serve a poncha with sugarcane spirit, which I think is the minimum required for anyone who knows what a real poncha is.
Unfortunately, this place seems to have turned into a tourist trap and I don't recommend it to anyone who really likes ponchas.
To the arrogant waiter who served me, all I wish is that on the day I go to a restaurant and order octopus à lagareiro, I would be served a pota well drizzled with sunflower oil.

This time I felt deceived. I've been coming to this bar for over 8 years and I've never been sold a pig in a poke. Well, I wasn't surprised when I now ask for a poncha (and ponchas are drinks made with brandy), and they serve me with vodka. This without notifying the customer! This is a disappointment for those who enjoy poncha, because if it is made with vodka it becomes another different drink and cannot be called poncha. When I complained, they didn't rectify it either.
