We ordered bolo lavado with steak, french fries and roasted chicken with rice. The steak was completely chewy, impossible to eat. Fries not fried enough (light and not crispy at all) and smelled very bad, even kids didnt want to eat them. Chicken was nothing special, but good enough to eat. I complained about the steak and gave back the fries. The waiter didnt want to reduce the receipt anyhow. It was a poor experience

Definitely the place to go if you like good food and nice service, at the same time not wanting to pay for fancy setting or white linen.
Family business, super friendly staff, speaking English and enjoying serving good food to whoever comes.
Ask for the "do dia" dishes.
When in doubt order less, the plates are literally full.
Vegetarian options: Few are available, but they are decent.

Best snack bar around! The food amazing! Its just like eating at your moms house .. your Portuguese mom! They treat you like family and the food cooked fresh on the spot. Can't recommend it more! Definitely going there when we're back.

5 stars for everything! 100% recommended! Not only they were the kindest but the food was incredible! (Best food we ate this week in sao miguel) we had caldo verde, Bacalhau a bras that was the best I have ever eaten and we had entrecosto and it was also the softest meat I have ever eaten (not exaggerating at all I promise), the bone would come off just while holding it! :) Also the cake was very nice. Regarding the staff: we were the only ones, it was late and they had just cleaned the floor and they had us seat and recommended me to drink “kima” Thank you, it was absolutely wonderful!! :) I have no food pictures as we devoured it

Every time we return to the Azores we stop here.I think it is one of the most authentic places where you can stop and you are welcomed as if you were your children or grandchildren returning from a trip.The ladies are always busy but there is always a fantastic smell coming out of the kitchen. The dishes of the day were super good and traditional (the tuna salad was magical) but also the "sandwiches" made with bolo levedo and local cheese... in short, a certainty. ♥️
