“Amazing tapas, all thoughtfully created, each with a fitting twist, like the eggplants with yogurt dip, courgette with goat cheese cream, pork filet with fig sauce or the tataki-style tuna. Didn't have a chance to try the full dishes as we had to order nearly everything from the tapas side of the menu. Definitely need to come back for some dishes, too.“

“January 23, 2024: For seven years we have been visiting Casa da Barreira on our trips to Sao Bras to enjoy a hot drink and a piece of cake. The standard hot drinks are a Bica cheia and a Meia de leite - you probably won't get better in the Algarve. The cakes today were a bolo de amêndoa with a fabulously airy dough under a dense layer of wonderfully sweet and sticky almond slivers and a bolo de abóbora (pumpkin cake) - recommended!“

“Super restaurant! On y a mangé pour notre dernière soirée à Olhão. Tout était parfait, l’attente juste un peu trop longue, mais un groupe de 5 personnes avait commandé avant nous. “Discovered this place by accident on the main drag in Olhão. Very typical traditional Portuguese restaurant. Speciality seems to be cataplana fish stews. In fact the restaurant bills itself as the ‘king of the cataplana,’ and it certainly lives up to that boast. My friend and I had the monkfish and prawn cataplana and it was AMAZING! Huge amounts of prawns and monkfish with loads of nicely cooked onion and tomato. Absolutely delicious. It was certainly big enough for three, maybe even four people with small appetites. It defeated us, sadly! With a very nice bottle of rose, olives, water, and a salad, the bill came to around €65, a complete bargain! Service was friendly and attentive. Would definitely recommend.“

The steak was sooo good plus the sauces and sides were perfection ?Just book it, you won’t be disappointed! The staff are super friendly too and make you feel so welcome. “As always, it never disappoints! Excellent service and great food! The space is very cute in terms of decoration, the atmosphere is familiar and super relaxed. It is right at the entrance to the island, and in the afternoon you have the best sunset seen from the terrace ☺️

We ordered the fried cuttlefish strips and barbecue chicken wings as a starter to share, and it was delicious! I really like the fact that the salad comes dressed with balsamic vinegar. Super friendly, smiling and helpful employees. It should be noted that my husband and I went to dinner on a Sunday after 8pm, the restaurant was full and we were served without any delay, and the food arrived quite quickly and without losing quality.

“Amazing food!! My husband and I just returned from a lovely day in Tavira, truly highlighted by this restaurant! Sat outside overlooking river and tourist boats coming in/out. We ordered:octopus salad - so fresh and seasoned to perfection, pork cheeks on wine sauce- absolutely a must have, the meat was so tender it melted in your mouth and seasoned was so unique and pleasant to your palate ????Beer -Estrella de Galicia was cold and perfect for a hot summer day- thank you guys!!!“

The wait between dishes is ideal and the staff are excellent despite the language barrier. We are looked after, asked if everything is going well.
As for the kitchen, just a marvel! Flavors, cooking, dressing always 5*!

“Very good gastronomic experience. We had dinner in the square in front of the restaurant, the people who served us were very nice. We tried the croquettes, the tuna tataki, the chicken burger, the shrimp, and the chocolate mousse with fleur de sel. Everything was very very delicious! A well-designed kitchen, much more than we thought. The cooks put a lot of effort into the dishes and it is clear that they use quality products. We 100% recommend this place to people passing through Olhao!“
