After going to Sublime Beachclub 3 days before and enjoying a fantastic paella. We went to Tasca da Comporta this evening for our last evening in the area. And then, what a disappointment, no more clams as a starter, no more fish of the day, no more grilled beef, no more grilled pork. We almost got up and left with my wife. The meal was a long ordeal for a high price. €12.50 for a glass of local wine, €4 for coffee.

Unfortunately, the restaurant didn't impress me when I visited last summer. The waiters left the weakest impression on me. They were friendly, but not attentive at all (and in a restaurant that was almost empty at that time of day). Since Tasca is a restaurant in the top price range, as a guest you can probably expect that the waiters will keep an eye on the table and will regularly stop by and ask if anyone has any further requests. That was not the case. After the food was on the table, our initiative was always required before a waiter showed up. Appropriately, for some orders the waiter no longer knew which guest they belonged to. This is also what I expect in a restaurant like this if I have to pay a lot of money for a meal. The food was good, freshly prepared, but nothing special. None of us four adults were impressed afterwards. Classic Portuguese cuisine was served, which you would get much cheaper in other restaurants. This applied to the 100 euro bottle of white wine that was recommended to us (without specifying the price) with the main courses. Conclusion: There is still a lot of room for improvement here!

Every port is delicious. The staff is kind and friendly, all available. The venue is beautiful and furnished to perfection, and is located within the residence estate which is all perfectly harmonious, natural and welcoming.

This place its clearly an upscale location, or at least its accomodation options are. The service is great, nothing to mention about it and fitting the overall concept. The problem is the quality of the food. I could say that the wine list is limited, but again, this is a dining option that its more relaxed so I wont dwelve into that. The price range is appropriate to the high quality of the location, but unfortunately like said before, the problem lies in the quality of the food. Its simply not at the level of the place, its service or location. The management should reconsider the Chef because clearly miss represents the whole thing. We had 2 starters and one main as we were not so hungry. The waiter suggested that it would be too less, but we keept out option. The first starter was a Tuna, where the portion was so big I had to ask the waiter if we had been served one or two portions! The second was fish on a bed of peppers. Decent, but once again not the quality you want to have on such a upscale place. The main was a grilled octopus, and I have to say that it was really wrongfully cooked! It was chewy like a chewing gum! This simply cannot happen in such a place. The desert was again of medíocre quality and although it was a serving for two.. it was way too much, but again, its a personal opinion when it comes to quantity.. I personally enjoy quality above quantity. The plating was like any other place, so much that I didnt even bother in taking photos. To summarize, you get the same quality of food or better in a genuine local restaurant.Go, try for yourself, but dont expect good quality food. Just a very good location with upscale service and price range.Again.. change the Chef. This place could be amazing, but its far from it!

A terrible experience started with 30 min of delay before to sit on our reserved table. As we confirmed the reservation via the email&call made by the restaurant in the previous days, the staff should provide the table at the agreed time. We can accept a tolerance of 15 min but not of 30 min for this kind of restaurant. As soon we get our table we have been informed that some dishes were finished from the previous turn. The thing which made us disappointed the most is the evident seasonal staff of this restaurant. After the starters we had a 2 min break outside of the restaurant and even though we alerted the staff we found the main dish on the table upon our return without any advice. In Portugal the restaurants have a nice attitude to keep the wine bottles fresh on a glasset far from the table. This works when you have staff keeping attention and fillig the empty glasses. Unfortuntately we demanded several times the staff to fill the glasses. Completely annoyed about this systematic mistakes, at the end of our dinner I woke up bringing the bottle on our table since the staff was busy to clean (spraying with bad smelling cleaning products on the empty tables close to ours) the restaurant preparing the closure. At the time of the payment the staff pretended the tip including it the without asking. Sadely was not deserved.Do not recommended it at all.

We were not staying there, we were coming to another nearby place. The food, the treatment and the place very good. A bit hard to find, but worth the effort. Anyone who wants seafood or fish and a good atmosphere should visit this place. To repeat with time and money, the prices are somewhat expensive, but there is no complaint because the product is spectacular. Thank you very much for the experience.

Very tasty food, very friendly staff and a very cute decoration making the space very cozy. The surrounding space takes us to travel to another reality, a true pearl in Comporta.

This peaceful upscale resort is set in the quiet pine and cork forests 75 minutes south of Lisbon airport and 10 minutes from the beach and is terrific in almost every way. The staff are exceptionally kind, warm, and do everything possible to please. The food on property is excellent in each venue — breakfast, Tasca and Food Circle experience (chef’s table tasting menu) all outstanding and better than any of the other restaurants in the area we tried (though these were all decent/good). Tr Brand new gym is great with cardio, free weights (including, unusually for a hotel gym a squat rack and boxing ring) Pilates reformers and some machines. The beach club is a short 10 minute ride with also a great restaurant for lunch and plenty of beach chairs. Pay in advance for the beach chairs only if sitting in the first row closest to the ocean is important — otherwise the chairs/umbrellas free with your room (though advance booking probably needed in high season). We did not try any of the spa treatments. The only — minor— annoyance was the design of our particular room with the full bath up a steep flight of stairs (but a convenient half bath adjacent to the bed) — but will someone please tell designers of upscale hotels that noone really thinks “oh i wish the toilet was open to the whole bedroom with no privacy”? Be prepared for some bugs/mosquitos — you are in a forest — perhaps the hotel could consider some screens on the sliding doors as it would have been lovely to sleep with the door open. There is not a lot else in the immediate area — just quiet, natural beauty, stunning beach (be prepared for some mild to strong winds) and forests and farms.
My traveling companions and I have never stayed at a hotel with as many mixed, complicated reviews. The lodging is beautiful, clean, gorgeous. Yes, the flies are pests at the pool but they don't bite and no one's fault, place fans around the pool area, perhaps? As the splurge hotel of our incredible stay in Portugal, we were greatly underwhelmed. The very weak link of S.C. is the management of the dining areas. Food is excellent. Dining rooms lovely. Staff is bewildered, confused, uncoordinated, and overwhelmed, undertrained. At both breakfast and dinner, waits for someone to visit the table with menus and drink orders were awkwardly long despite many staff members fluttering close by. Equally frustrating was finally having a server come to the table only to respond "I'll send my colleague" with no one following up. The staff members are nice folks and eager to please but seem to be confused and unclear of their roles and duties. Message to management: Training workshops ASAP!!! Bottom line, I can't whole heatedly recommend SC because the dining experiences took such a chink out of otherwise wonderful stay. Instead of having memories of beauty and rest, I'm thinking of waiting 30 minutes to be greeted and order a glass of wine.
We stayed in a guest suite which was lovely & quiet. 2 levels; bedroom & toilet & couch on first floor & shower & a 2nd toilet on second floor. Very comfortable bed & spacious rooms. Grounds are lovely for walks. Pool area is nice but flies can be an issue. Chaises very comfortable. Breakfast buffet is outstanding. Service for the most part was good. We did have an unfortunate experience one night at dinner where they served our appetizer to another table & we waited over an hour for it. Then waited again for entrees. The food was excellent when it finally arrived but not worth the very long wait. Manager tried to help & did take off entrees from bill & sent us cheese & wine to our room the next day. So that was a lovely gesture. We took a complimentary stretch class which was good. I do think the yoga classes should also be complimentary (35 euros per person per class is pricey). I enjoyed practicing on my own in the studio which was kept opened . All in all a lovely experience with a few hiccups. Their beachfront restaurant is very good w/ fast service & good food with water views; go at sunset. They have a complimentary shuttle. Tip: book spa services before you arrive.

Nice hotel but unbearable fly problem. Stayed here in May, hotel itself is nice, food is good in particular the breakfast. It is a large property set amongst nature with lots of trees and plants. Staff on the whole are helpful, nice and do try. I didn’t find the negatives mentioned in other reviews but maybe they have increased the staff. Nice sauna and steam but they should keep up on maintenance, it was starting to look a bit dirty in there. Negatives: the flies, absolutely unbearable at the pool, unfortunately the staff will not do anything with regards to this even approved natural remedies because it goes against the nature if the resort. Everyone at the pool complained about the flies all day. Rooms were nice very natural, hairdryer was bad. I would not stay at the bio pools the noise from there was crazy at night and in the morning. Go for it if into thar. Based on the above I would not stay here again as it is meant to get even worse in the summer months. Staff should really consider natural and safe ways to deter the flies if they want guests to relax and enjoy themselves. You need a car to get around and explore.
We spent a week and it was indeed sublime. The staff, the service, the accomodations, the location, all were top notch. We have already reserved to return next year. If you are looking for a place to truly relax, we strongly recommend Sublime Comporta.
Absolutely terrible experience which I have shared in more detail with the resort and hoping I can also share with the owner. I have been privileged to stay in the top hotels of the world in London, Milan and New York but have never been been accused of lying by the General Manager that I tasted the soup but it is not cold like you said. This facility in itself is incredible but luxury is always a matter of service and it leaves much to be desired. A lot of the staff if very defensive in their approach and I wouldn’t be surprised at all how they will come to the defense of this post. My suggestion to first time travellers is to go down the street and stay at Quinta da Comporta, you will be blow away by the facility and the customer first attitude!
The most natural way to feel the nature. Beautiful rooms, some villas with fireplaces, great for friends, couples and families. Amazing fresh food straight from the garden, local wines to enjoy, indoor and outdoor pools, beautiful spa, the breakfast is unbelievable and also vegan friendly…. If you need to recharge, go here!!!
Check-in was friendly, and the staff were warm and efficient. Our room wasn't ready, but we had a lovely lunch on the deck while waiting. The room was bright and airy, nestled among Umbrella Pines and wildflowers...and you felt the mystic of Comporta when sitting on the deck. We had a shared pool, which was not my preference, but as no one was in the room beside us on the first night, it didn't matter. Breakfast was a delight. An array of many different options and excellent service. Highly enjoyable. We had dinner in the restaurant, it was nice, but we were underwhelmed with the choices and prolonged service. The spa was excellent, and my husband and I enjoyed our massages. The pool was average and didn't hit the mark for us, and we were not inclined to use it at all. We ate at the Beach Club on both days of our stay: excellent regional food and top-notch service. The location is one of Portugal's most beautiful spots and everything you hope for when staying in Comporta. Would I recommend, probably not, saying that there are a limited number of options at this level, maybe worth another try?
