I visited this shop today on a Viking tour. The owner, Rosalia, explained how her pastries were made and served 3 examples to 10 visitors. What a wonderful experience with our excellent guide, Sara.

This is a small cafe or pastry shop style place known for its local desserts. Especially the Douradinhas de Guimaraes and Toucinho do ceu de Guimaraes desserts were very nice.

I found this little pastry shop by chance. Lucky for me to discover that this small space has a huge story to tell. Its regional cakes are made from a secret recipe that has been passed down from generation to generation.- Guimarães pies- Guimarães sky bacon- Douradinhas from GuimarãesThese are the 3 cakes to try. The person who opened doors to my Divine Gluttony was Mrs. Alexandra. Sorry, she asked me to just call her Xana. We had a very pleasant conversation about the history of these cakes and, to my surprise, I learned that these delicacies are better known to foreigners than the Portuguese themselves. This pastry has already been recognized by televisions in European, American and Asian countries, all of whom are in love with the sweets of Guimarães.Perhaps, as Portuguese, because we associate this city with conquests and glory, we do not believe that it is capable of sweet feats. We couldn't be more wrong.Xana and the rest of the family, I hope one day to see your great legacy receive the recognition it deserves. Until then, I'll pass on my word.

These little sweet treats are truly authentic, traditional and astonishingly delicious! Either sit in or select a few to take away and go off and munch happily in the local square. Stunning! A definite must when you are in Guimaraes.

We loved the pastries and found them all amazing! We stumbled into the sleepy shop attended by a distracted twenty something on his phone. A little sign hanging outside caught my attention where the main ingredient of spaghetti squash struck me as unusual. We bought four different ones and took them back to our hotel room to snack on later.WOW! All are fantastic! Each have different flavors and textures but all brilliant. Not too sweet and very enjoyable. Were so glad we tried them all. Highly recommend you try a few.Dare I say these rival and surpass the famed Nata de Belém that are so popular in Portugal. My love affair with almonds might be to blame. ;-)I can only hope I can find these back in the US. I might have to learn to make them myself.

Here you can find the best artisan cakes. A family business that has endured over time. The guimarães cake is totally a delicatessen. Unique flavors and we look forward to taking them to eat in our country of origin.

Best 'doces (sweets)' in town! This small pastry shop is just off from the main historic square. All the pastries are so good and I am not a huge sweet fun but love their pastries, in particular Rochas da Penha, which is light and brings lovely smell of almonds. We had some at the shop with pingos. It was really nice time.We also bought some small jars of jams, all of which are also great and have home made taste.Next time we will buy more pastries to share with our friends at home. The mum and daughter team are sweet and very helpful. Obrigada!
